  • Great post, great quotes. Duke was a great actor and man. I watch many of his movies each year. His family is blessed to have his legacy in their history. God Bless them in their lives and all of our memories of John Wayne.

  • Ethan thanks for doing this. If it ever reruns, please put out something to this site so we can watch it.

  • I think most of this was in a book I read. I don't believe Ford was on the beach at D-day. He was on a cruiser at first and then got on a Pt boat, which came under fire several times from the shore based guns. Ford definitely was a big factor in war combat film. He also had shrapnel hit him at Midway, he was wounded. I think Duke should have been put in raising morale, not a private. However Duke's war pictures did raise U.S. morale, I am comfortable with that. Also Gene Autry was a pilot and fl…

  • I thought Rio Lobo was bad in some of the same ways you guys wrote about. Stilted speaking, etc. However they aren't making any more John Wayne movies, so I don't judge it so harshly now. Couldn't the director have coaxed some better lines out of some of those people. Duke was still great in it.

  • The Quiet Man (1952)

    Post

Time to bring this movie up to the front. One of the best movies in my history. I watch it at least once a year. I am sorry to see the "dukewayne" sight so quiet. It was so lively 10 years ago. Sometimes i am in a store talking to a young clerk, say something about John Wayne. Then i realize they probably don't know him. I ask them and sometimes they say my dad or grandpa loved him and i have watched some of his movies with them. I am 76 now and lived through much of the golden age of movies. No…

  • Beautiful model. Thanks Kevin, keep up the good work. I can't go a month without watching at least part of a John Wayne movie. I watch the "Quiet Man" about twice a year. Whatever is on Television i watch a least a few minutes of them. We were blessed to have been on here when this site was hopping. Can you bring back some of the thread of years past on the Quiet Man?

  • I have seen that movie. It used to be on TV once in awhile. I love Henry Fonda and his acting.

  • It sure wasn't murder, but many on that movie in Utah did die of cancer. Maybe from the Nuclear bomb testings? It could have been from that radiation. I believe there is some possibility there.

  • I have been to the house in Iowa. A tour of Newport Beach in the late 1990's. Saw several of his old yachts. Saw the round house. Watch his movies still. Talked to a young lady in a store, probably 28. Whose Dad had watched duke's movies with her. I told her about "the Quiet Man", said we download it from one of the services and watch it. God continue to Bless the whole family.

  • The Red Badge of Courage (1951)

    colkid60 - - Audie Murphy

In my opinion Audie Murphy was a great actor. He seemed to have all situations in hand. I watch everyone i see on TV, which isn't much lately.

  • One of my favorite actors. Thanks for the list of his movies. "Whatever happened to Randolph Scott has happened to the best of us." I believe that quote was from the Statler Brother song.

CelticFCDuke- "Im in favour of arming our police but in regards to letting civilians have arms we have enough problems with knife crime without adding guns to the mix." So you believe citizens should be sheep to be slaughtered by the muslim hordes. This has been dealt with here in the America. Those thoughts lose, because good people die.

  • My Darling Clementine (1946)

    colkid60 - - Henry Fonda

    Post

I loved most of the actors in this film. Henry Fonda was one of the best actors ever. He raised the class of any movie he was in. Clementine is not very accurate despite John Ford personally knowing Wyatt Earp. It is a fine movie, i have it recorded on my system to watch again this summer.
