  • Thought I'd post some photos from my Daniel Boone image collection. After "The Lone Ranger", "Daniel Boone" is my very favorite TV show. My sisters tease me, though, because I like to call it "The Adventures of Mingo". He's my favorite character. He's wise and brave, but loyal and compassionate. One of my five screen heroes! • The Big Trail (1930)

    Little One - - The 1930's

    Post

"The Big Trail" is not only my favorite John Wayne movie, but one of my top 5 favorite westerns. It's amazing how much work was put into filming the wagon march. I never cease to marvel at the beautiful scenery and incredible hardship whenever I watch the film. My review of "The Big Trail": filmsofthepast.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-big-trail.html

Little One added a new article: "Shepherd of the Hills" Quote: “dukewayne.com/index.php?attach…13e2a93d824f93d27fd0a66d2 “The Shepherd of the Hills” is a 1941 film based on a novel of the same name. Filmed in gorgeous Technicolor and containing excellent performances by Harry Carey, John Wayne, Betty Field, and others, I’m really not sure why this film isn’t a classic. The plot is simple, but beautiful and moving, one of Director Henry Hathaway’s greatest cinematic achievements. Our story begins…

  • Little One added a new article: The Magic of the Silver Screen Cowboy Quote: “dukewayne.com/index.php?attach…13e2a93d824f93d27fd0a66d2 Those first stirring notes of music. That familiar name in large letters. A few hoofbeats announcing that the magic is beginning. And just like that, we are catapulted back to the familiar sensations and memories of our youth. Our hero is riding the range again. He rides for truth. He rides for justice. And we ride with him. I don’t know about you folks, but a pa…

    Post

Quote from Rooster52: “I know this might sound like a strange connection but I often wonder if George Lucas didn't borrow some from this film for Star Wars. Why? Because that scene where Luke comes back home on Tatooine to see the carnage of his home smoldering plays and is staged very similar to how Ethan comes back to see the carnage of their home burning. It has the same emotional trigger and looks shot with the same panning shot from afar. I was watching it the other night and I just sat bac…

    Post

I've read and heard a lot about the Roy Rogers Riders Club and other clubs they had back in the day for fans. I realize this is probably unlikely, but I was wondering if any of the old clubs are still in existence? I would really love to join the Roy Rogers one, if it is still up and running. Does anyone know about the old clubs and what their current statuses are?

Oh, man, that is AWESOME!! What was he like? Do you remember anything he said to you? That must have been such an amazing experience. I have to admit that Roy Rogers is my hero. Aside from growing up on his films, he and Dale's legacy of faith has molded who I am as a person today. I can't wait to meet him in heaven!
