    Trivia
One day during shooting when the "Mexican Forces" (reenactors from across the USA) were forming in the field,
a B-52 from the nearby USAF base in San Antonio "buzzed the deck" to have a look at the movie being made.
What the B-52 crew thought of hundreds of "Soldados" happily waving, no one has ever found out.

  • Alamo: The Price of Freedom (1988) is played daily at the IMAX
on the famous riverwalk. If you visit San Antonio, it's important that you see this film.
Preferably before you actually go inside the Alamo.

The location adjacent to the Alamo adds to the impact
but this is a film that could stand alone in any venue.

After 18 years it was a real pleasure to finally get to see this. Having made some of the equipage, horse equipment and lancer helmets I am probably biased but overall it was a very well done . The experience of seeing seeing it in the I-Max format with the full sound track and the large screen adds greatly to the effect.

The research that we did for the equipment was more of a project in 1988 we had to access books and paintings to get a start. This is much easier today with the internet.

  • I've seen the IMAX film, Alamo: The Price Of Freedom a couple of times and it's pretty darn good. Not very long, but the battle sequences are as good as it gets. That's one movie, despite it's short running time, I would like to see on video, preferrably in Blu-ray.
