    Trivia
The TV series Cheyenne (1955) starring Clint Walker was supposedly "based on" this film, although there is no actual connection beyond Warner Brothers' owning the title.

"The Screen Guild Theater" broadcast a 30 minute radio adaptation of the movie on March 22, 1948 with Dennis Morgan and Jane Wyman reprising their film roles.

    Goofs
    Boom mic visible
When Ann is telling Wylie to get out of the bathtub, a shadow of the boom microphone can be seen to dip down onto, then move off of the room partition between them.

    Revealing mistakes
When Ed Landers turned around to shoot uphill at James Wylie who was coming in behind him, his gun went off before he was turned halfway around, when it was still pointed at the ground.

  • Cheyenne is a 1947 American romantic western film directed by Raoul Walsh.
It stars Dennis Morgan and Jane Wyman.

The film centers around the mysterious "poet" bandit, who robs Wells Fargo stagecoaches.
The inspiration for this may have come from a notorious outlaw of similar methodology, Black Bart.

Got lost among other westerns with same name!

    Quote from alex

Dennis Morgan is a gambler forced in exchange for his freedom to capture a notorious outlaw who calls himself "The Poet" and leaves poems on the money box. On the hotel he meets Jane Wyman and they have a tempestuous relationship from the beginning, but that is what make the film so good. Wyman has a stern face, but when she smiles she melts Morgan and the spectators. Janis Paige is the other woman who in a way is prettier than Wyman, but lacks her stern charm (in the movie), but manages to sing very well. Arthur Kennedy is Sundance, an excellent bad guy, but in a minor role. Some very good scenes of the outlaws in numerous horses chasing the stagecoach, might even be stock footage. Very well built screenplay, will leave no one bored. Raoul Walsh directs and delivers a good western, that should be more known, but perhaps because of its title, got lost in time and in the the number of westerns that used the same name.
