Looked like they were really good friends from all accounts although I don't recall anything they ever worked on together. Godspeed fellers!

Definitely one of my favorites!

What a life and all the things he's seen in his time on this earth. Godspeed to one of the last of a dying breed.

Been enjoying them all month to bring in the New Year. Lets hope this next year has more promise the way things have been going.

It was on an internet search I found the other day. In all truth where and when he wore the first toupee wasn't among my big interest which is why I didn't look into it much further. Who knows really but maybe there is a historian that might have the info someplace.
Edit Yep reading further says John Wayne wore a toupee beginning in about 1948. So" Wake Of The Red Witch" time line checks out. Said he felt more confident wearing it! Now if we could just find out when he first smoked you'd be in business.

Good question, all I could dig up was it was supposedly the first time Duke wore a toupee. Maybe others will have some more information.

One of my favorites, thanks for sharing lasbugas.

Thanks for the info Kevin, I guess just like people sometimes when things grow old and with less interest they have a habit of being forgotten. Lets hope some day they'll realize what a treasure the place really is. Sad!

Thanks dukefan1.
Yeah, I looked it up too after posting this and found the collectible value was low which surprises me since it's over 40 years old. I love it and still payed under market so it's all good. It now sits in a special place on a shelf in our living-room. -
Howdy folks,
Say I just picked this up a our local thrift store for next to nothing. Are they a collectible of any value does anybody know?

OMB, thanks for the comment. The movie from what I've read was in the vault for many years and with Duke plus the star studded cast it's absolutely a prize for my collection. As for being a truly great movie I'll leave that up the the eyes of the beholder. I thoroughly loved it and got to see a whole new side of John Wayne with his talent and acting abilities. To any fans of Duke I'd recommend it with a thumbs up attached!

Just added John Wayne's " Island In The Sky" to the collection and don't believe I'd ever seen it before. Anybody seen this gem and your thoughts on it?
-
I recently added Tombstone to my collection and love it too Sally. Doc Holiday/Val Kilmer is worth the price of admission anytime. Good stuff!

Godspeed cowboy and thanks for the memories.

Well done Kevin, have fun watching them.

Dukefan1, Thank you. I did find the picture with some research, It's one of many stills from The Fighting Kentuckian a 1949 American Adventure Western. This one shows more color than the online photos and I love the custom rustic old wood frame. Happy Happy Happy I found it and at a very fair price!

Just picked this up at a roadside flea market. I've never seen this picture of Duke have you guys?

That's an epic lineup Kevin and I cant think of a better way to spend the weekend.

I'll look High Noon up, haven't watched it in years.
