TCM is rerunning The AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A TRIBUTE TO STEVE MARTIN this Thursday at 7 and 10:30pm(CT). I still don't think he deserves it but the AFI always puts on a good show and the clips I saw of it were funny. (unlike most of his films)

I agree completely with you may. Check my post on May 21st 2013. I spoke with a woman from the AFI and she explained some things to me. Please excuse any mistakes keyboard is still dead and I am dictating this. Can you get a hold of Mona. I have a picture of a friend of mine and Leonard Nimoy when he interviewed him. Thought she might like it. Hi to all at JWMB. KP

WAS READY TO POST THIS WHEN I WAS LOGGED OUT...WISH I HAD SAVED MORE OF IT.

THE 4TH WEEKEND I WATCHED AND REVELED IN YANKEE DOODLE DANDY WITH JAMES CAGNEY PLAYING THE MASTER OF SINGING, DANCING SONGWRITING, AND ACTING, GEORGE M, COHAN! IF YOU NEVER WATCHED THIS THINKING IT MIGHT BE A WIMPY MUSICAL TYPE....GIVE YOURSELF AND FAMILY A REAL TREAT! I WATCH IT EVERY 4TH AND ANYTIME ELSE I NEED A "PICKUP".

COHAN WROTE MANY SONGS TO HELP THE WAR EFFORT BUT TWO STILL STAND OUT...."OVER THERE" AND "THE GRAND OLD FLAG". CAGNEY, AN ALREADY QUITE FANTASTIC DANCER, WORKED UNTIL CAPTURING THE DISTINCTIVE "MARIONETTE" STYLE OF COHAN. HE SUCCEEDED SO WELL THAT HE WAS ABLE TO CREATE HIS VERY OWN COHAN ORIGINAL SCENE....CAGNEY'S OWN COHAN PIECE OF DANCEWORK!

THE STAIRCASE SCENE IS ONE AND IT IS ONE OF THE MOST REPEATED SCENES IN ALL MUSICALS.

HOPE IT WILL WORK HERE...DOES ALL OTHER PLACES.

THE WAY WEST 1967 starring Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, and Richard Widmark and directed by Andrew McLaglen. A large cast including regulars such as Dobe Carey, John Mitchum, Jack Elam, Stubby Hayes, Sally Field and many other recognizables. Decent storyline but the production was great. Real conestoga wagons, oxen, not just horses, many complete character studies. The trip down the mountain to the stream bed was very realistic showing wagons, oxen and mules, and eventually people being lowered by rigs and block and tackle outfits. Stunt work included Jim Burk and Hal Needham among others. All in all a good film. Strange I never ran into it before. You can catch it on Youtube. KEITH Have some good pics....is there an easier way to post them Yet?

Charade (1963) - Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn

Nothing like a good old Cary Grant movie.

Watched this on release in a huge old theater.........believe it was the Fox in Atlanta. Our friend owned the Rialto I think, though,....might have been that one. They were our neighbors in Brookhaven...........Papa Mion............owned a large tile company. I was 13 and it was the first time I really noticed Cary Grant,............fell in love on the spot, LOL. The music is still haunting............great movie......KEITH

I've added several more Wagon Master photos to my Ben webpage since I last posted -- you can see them all at https://benjohnsonfanpage.shutterfly.com/photogallery/101. (Download from Shutterfly to get the nice big versions of the scans.)

I'm posting my latest one because I'm sure our friend Hawkswill will love it as it features Ward Bond most prominently. (You can see Ben in the back sitting his horse and holding onto the rope.) ;)

Have spoken to you since then Paula.........but thanks for the Ward Pic! I have some Ben ones that I think you might not have........got them from our stuntman...new to the group. But, put them on my EHD and the cord has short in it.....have one ordered and I will send them over. Thanks again................KEITH

Will do MB AND Paula. Have reposted it on FB with a note and picture. Thanks, KEITH Colorado Bob is MANAGER of the page, so have to get him to SHARE what I posted.........I am just a lowly Admin, LOL! KP Well, it says Editor......think they are the same! KP

Please follow Paula's advice and go to MGM Studios on Facebook and enter a polite message about restoring the director's cut of Duke's "The Alamo".
The film is deteriorating from within and MGM is reluctant to take any steps to halt it's turning into industrial waste. Perhaps enough public outcry can make them reconsider.
    Remember the Alamo!

Jim, sorry for the delayed reply, our family has been BUSY with graduations (1 college and 1 high school) AND our son's Boy Scout Eagle Project . . .

We LOVE Secondhand Lions! We have seen (and own) every movie we have watched with the group, so for us at least, there are no surprises. We recommend that movie to many people (in fact, we had to replace our copy because we loaned it out and never got it back).

Don't even know Secondhand Lions.will have to read up on it. Netflix just put out the second season of Longmire..........probably be busy with that for a while. KEITH HI ALL

Jay, Maureen is no longer beautiful. She is old. Yet she has a timeless beauty that even years cannot peel away. She and Duke DID have some great chemistry...........tis a shame though
that he didn't do more with Kate Hepburn.......Now THAT was chemistry! I would show you but I no longer want to fight the picture process here. You are welcome to the Facebook page NewFrontier. Might like it,LOL..........we do. KEITH

"Rio Grande." I think Maureen O'Hara was one of the most beautiful actresses ever and she and Duke had exquisite chemistry. Have seen some of her recent photos and she is still very beautiful.
