A 1963 John Wayne movie that’s loosely based on William Shakespeare’s “The Taming of the Shrew” will be on the big screen at the next benefit event from Omaha film historian Bruce Crawford.

I'd say they were good friends...after a drink or three.

I’ve read that Duke and Oliver Hardy became good friends. Duke supposedly was enthralled hearing Hardy tell of his trips abroad during the heyday with Stan Laurel.

A recent article here. It concerns Duke’s kindness to Oliver Hardy, and mentions that Babe “performed on stage with Duke in a touring charity production of John Ford’s ‘What Price Glory?’”

Would’ve loved to see that.

Looked like they were really good friends from all accounts although I don't recall anything they ever worked on together. Godspeed fellers!

December 30,1949. The Duke has been my hero for as long as I can remember. Nobody compares to him.
