  • Quote from may2: “TCM is rerunning The AFI LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: A TRIBUTE TO STEVE MARTIN this Thursday at 7 and 10:30pm(CT). I still don't think he deserves it but the AFI always puts on a good show and the clips I saw of it were funny. (unlike most of his films)” I agree completely with you may. Check my post on May 21st 2013. I spoke with a woman from the AFI and she explained some things to me. Please excuse any mistakes keyboard is still dead and I am dictating this. • Yep HAVE A GREAT ONE, MARK....................KEITH

  • THE WAY WEST 1967 starring Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, and Richard Widmark and directed by Andrew McLaglen. A large cast including regulars such as Dobe Carey, John Mitchum, Jack Elam, Stubby Hayes, Sally Field and many other recognizables. Decent storyline but the production was great. Real conestoga wagons, oxen, not just horses, many complete character studies. The trip down the mountain to the stream bed was very realistic showing wagons, oxen and mules, and eventually people being lowered…

  • Quote from Kevin: “Charade (1963) - Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn Nothing like a good old Cary Grant movie.” Watched this on release in a huge old theater.........believe it was the Fox in Atlanta. Our friend owned the Rialto I think, though,....might have been that one. They were our neighbors in Brookhaven...........Papa Mion............owned a large tile company. I was 13 and it was the first time I really noticed Cary Grant,............fell in love on the spot, LOL. The music is still haunting.…

KP Quote from Gorch: “Please follow Paula's advice and go to MGM Studios on Facebook and enter a polite message about restoring the director's cut of Duke's "The Alamo". • Quote from chester7777: “Jim, sorry for the delayed reply, our family has been BUSY with graduations (1 college and 1 high school) AND our son's Boy Scout Eagle Project . . . We LOVE Secondhand Lions! We have seen (and own) every movie we have watched with the group, so for us at least, there are no surprises. We recommend that movie to many people (in fact, we had to replace our copy because we loaned it out and never got it back).” Don't even know Secondhand Lions.will have to read up on it. N…

  • Jay, Maureen is no longer beautiful. She is old. Yet she has a timeless beauty that even years cannot peel away. She and Duke DID have some great chemistry...........tis a shame though that he didn't do more with Kate Hepburn.......Now THAT was chemistry! I would show you but I no longer want to fight the picture process here. You are welcome to the Facebook page NewFrontier. Might like it,LOL..........we do. KEITH Quote from Jay J. Foraker: “"Rio Grande." I think Maureen O'Hara was one of the m…

  • This is supposed to be a real bomb of Duke's. I liked it, LOL. I put that on here once, and I think it was Mark who said, "Surely you are kidding, Keith". Not sure if I got back to answer, but........Nope, wasn't kidding. I actually enjoyed the movie. But then, I liked The Conqueror also, so what the heck do I know!! I DIDN'T like his early Z westerns though...........except for Angel and the Badman......still like that one. KEITH,,,,,,,,,,,,,yep, really the Old Lady......turned 64 in April. ONE…

  • Watched the Winds of War....about my third time. But this time, I actually began to realize more what the times were like then. My Grandpa fought as an Army Captain in that one. Stellar cast. An older Peter Graves, for the first time REALLY reminded me of his brother James Arness...........very similar facial attributes, and even his voice sounded more like him........love them both. And Marty. I believe that was the first role Ernie had played a Non Heavy.....not sure...........he had to read f…

  • Loved that one also. Jimmy is like Ward........I believe he could play just about anything!! KEITH

  • Right you are Colkid. If you look ir up, you will find a bunch of screen catches of the fight between Duke and Ward. We did it on the Group Watch once. It clearly shows the doubles used when Duke and Ward could easily have done those stunts themselves. Have a good one, KEITH Quote from colkid60: “Tall in the Saddle, a very good Duke movie, Good quality Black and White. The second time I have seen it.”
