I think that's the only explanation, there were multiple takes of this scene - one which included Duke's hat getting splashed with paint.

It's when Duke is on the landing craft during the attack in "Sands of Iwo Jima," the young marine says "I'm scared," to which Duke replies "So am I".

The problem for me is that the hat had a large paint stain on it, however within the movie no paint gets near it.

This is a very authentic and intelligent western with a great performance from Charlton Heston. My only gripe with the movie was the extremely disappointing gunfight at the end which the viewer had been waiting for since the first encounter with Donald Pleanance and his family.

Hi All, I've seen Ethan Wayne twice on "Pawn Stars" to validate items brought in that are reputed to have belonged to his father and on each occasion the item was not deemed genuine. This got me thinking, how many times have John Wayne related items been brought into this programme and were any of these items deemed authentic?
