  • The Bowie knife used in THE ALAMO was one of several originally constructed for the 1952 motion picture, THE IRON MISTRESS, which starred Alan Ladd as Jim Bowie.     The first time Wayne is seen in Stagecoach, he spins his Trapper model Winchester '92 carbine. Other cowboy heroes could spin a six-gun--but Duke could spin a carbine! It is a very dramatic moment that, to my knowledge, had never been done before in the history of cinema.
