  • The sun will pass the celestial equator heading south on Sept. 23, which will mark the first day of autumn. Of course, for us South Texans, Carl, as you know, probably our first bit of cooler weather won't come until mid-October:glare: .
    Cheers - Jay:beer:

I definately hear ya on that Jay. Ugg.

On a brighter note, today here in CC-land, it started raining cats and dogs at about 11:30 this morning, and did not stop until about 2:30? or so. The temps were kept down to a very nice level, and I got to enjoy some more thunder and lightning-though my cats were scared shipless.

    Mater, as in Tow-Mater?

The Mrs. LOVES vine-ripened maters (as do I!)!:hyper:

The weather's warming up around here, hitting 92º today. But it's been good hot-dog selling weather, as we had one of our best days at the park so far this summer, today.

  • Wul, all this morning it was hot n humid as heck. The second you take a step out of the house, glasses fogged up for about 5 minutes, and you instantly were bathed in a blanket of sweat. I was out and about doing some looking for something that I will have very soon, that will have a few Duke Wayne Members feeling like this: :hyper: :hyper: and it's a bit more than I wish to spend but; it's greatly needed. Also, as soon as the first member here finds out what this surprise is; i'll let him or her explain what it is. And sadly no, I aint yet hooked up for internet service. What I will have in my habnds tomorrow-is a necessity; :glare: but one I can live with.

Anyway, to continue with the weather.

We had absolutely no breeze this morning and early afternoon-no way to dry off at all. Funny though, as I sit here and type this, the trees within my vision just outside the library, are shaking violently because of all the wind. :glare:

  • Yup tow-maters....ain't nothing I love no better than a mater, a coupla slices of bread, some mayo, a touch of salt and pepper and I swear that if you put it on my forehead my tongue would beat my brains out trying to get to it. Hmmm, maybe I should have put this one on the ummm ummm good thread :glare:

Getting back to the subject though, Still hotter'n Hades 'round these parts. I think we broke 100 again today.

  • We just got done with a gully washer but I think Carl is in the middle of Tropical Depression Erin. And Hurricane Dean is headed west as well. "Hurricane Party"

  • Tropical depression Erin passed about 40 miles south of us about 3 hours ago and has brought torrential rains to Bexar County and surrounding areas. The street was running like a river (which it used to do many years ago before the drainage system was put in). Wet, Wet, Wet.

  • All we got out of Erin was about 30 minutes of slightly gusty winds, and some rain--no downpours though. We were actually supposed to be hit in the jaw by this thing and were supposed to have about 10 inches of rain in a short period of time. I never even heard a boom of thunder nor saw any lightning. I am glad for many reasons that it was not worse but, I was looking forward to watching the lightning show. I think there was a tornado or two that hit near two tiny Texas towns that I never heard of--which are only about 30 or so miles from here heading East.

  • while we haven't had rain yet it is overcast so we are praying real hard for some of that blessed stuff to fall down on our heads, level six restrictions will come into effect next month. dams are down to 17.5%, fish are dying in the dams as the water is getting too hot. one dam had to be closed because of algue bloom though they still count its water for the % avaliablity. when level 6 comes in we have to reduce our water usage to 130lts per person per day.

    keep thinking of us

  • smokey,

We will be thinking of you. We had a less-than-normal amount of rainfall last rainy season (less than 30" for the season, normal is over 70").

We are in Phase 1 drought restrictions, which is voluntary, making reasonable efforts to conserve. In the city of Santa Cruz, they have mandatory rationing, only allowed to water outdoors on certain days and between certain hours. We are currently in a high fire danger alert status. We can reasonably expect to not see rain until the end of October or later.

    Mrs. C :angel1:

  • mrs c

thanks, will be thinking of you for the fire danger, when i here of fire in your state i listern out for you area so that i know you are fine. are you allowed to have water tanks where you are, they might be something to think about as they will help to put out spot fires if you have to, also will help with the water restrictions.

take care of you and yours

  • Some of you may have seen pictures on the news or especially "The Weather Channel" of all the flooding here in San Antonio. Fortunately I wasn't in those flooded areas, but had plenty enough of rain. Showers predicted to continue today and tomorrow to a lesser degree, but possibly taking aim on us again is Dean maybe coming in sometime next week.

  • Well, we supposedly reached 101 today, but the weatherman has promised that relief is on the way. Next week we'll cool off to the freezing mid 90's. Better crank up the heater now.

  • We were slightly cooler today. We reached 95 "F" and of course, was humid as heck. I don;t know what to say about Hurricane Dean except that, to stay the heck away from Texas.

  • Yeah, that hurricane Dean is looking pretty wicked. I guess they won't know until Monday or Tuesday what to expect for the Gulf area. Batten down the hatches, Carl!

I'm sure glad we only have to worry about earthquakes. We don't have earthquake season, and at least we're in ignorant bliss until it happens.

  • I appreciate that Jim/Sue, but, if it hits here-the management at out Apt complex has posted a notice on every door saying that they are not responsible for boarding up windows nor are sesponsible for damage. Heck, were were left to "fend for ourselves" when Hurrican Rita was supposed to hit, and it looks like were abandoned again. I guess we should be used to it by now-with these jerks.

Anyway, if Dean hits here, this complex is history. They let much needed maintenance go for too long-and I live on the 2nd floor. At times when we get gusts of winds at about 40 mph, it almost seems as if the roof will be torn off and the windows will break.
