I thought the Duke did a good job with this role! Although I too think Bogart would probably have done better. I liked it!

This film doesn't get talked about much. I actually enjoyed it.

but still can't help thinking that Mitchum, Duke's original choice,
would have been better suited to the partBest Wishes

Me too, I keep picturing Mitch in the role whenever I see it. But, it is what it is, and Duke somehow makes it work for the most part.
