I love this movie! I like the chemistry between John Wayne and Lee Marvin. I think Marvin steals the show in this one. He does so many funny bits: he has a quart of beer tied around his arm for awhile, I love when he smashes the sailor guy in the beginning and then asks for "permission to leave the ship" and jumps overboard, he gets super-excited to receive a toy train set and then proceeds to assemble it in record time.....I could go on and on. So much fun stuff in this film.

Hi, friends!
Great news about Donovan's Reef. No info yet about release date, artwork or extras (I am sure there will be a commentary at least). Will post when there is more information.
Kino Lorber have revealed that they are preparing a 4K Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of John Ford's Donovan's Reef (1963), starring John Wayne, Lee Marvin, Elizabeth Allen, Jack Warden, and Cesar Romero.
Description: Three World War II Navy veterans -- Donovan (John Wayne), Doc Dedham (Jack Warden) and Gilhooley (Lee Marvin) -- converge on the French Polynesian island of Haleakaloha and team up to deceive Dedham's prim daughter (Elizabeth Allen), who has just learned of her father's existence and his inherited stock from the company of which she is chairman, and hopes to find just cause to reclaim his shares. Dedham's marriage to an island woman serves to further threaten his share in the company. -
Thanks for the heads up, Paula. I'm sure we'll all be keeping an eye out for it!
