    Star Trek-terrific

I saw the movie two times in cinema and can´t wait, ´till the DVD is going to be released!

  • This afternoon I watched "The Salton Sea", a Val Kilmer film that is definitely different. The first 15 minutes are pretty repelling as it depicts in fairly accurate (I suppose) fashion the world of speed freaks (I hate drug use) but as the movie progresses, it kinda sucks you in. If you're like me, you won't grasp the true plot until almost the end. Hellacious acting by all concerned.

  • Knowing with Nicholas Cage. This movie was pretty good with the special effects, but the story was strong. A good message about faith. Pretty graphic, so the little ones should wait until they are older.

    Cheers

  • I have the Spotlight Collection of Tom & Jerry. I happen to have all 3 volumes, and just love that cat and mouse duo. They have warnings that children should not watch this because of the violence, but I watched it as a child and I haven't blown away anyone. This is very entertaining, and I do think if a kid would do what these cartoons do, I would it and I haven't done it. What's Up!

A must IMO for all ages, and parents should watch it with your children just because of family time together.

    Cheers

  • Yesterday I spent my day off watching (maybe too) many episodes of NCIS (a crime series with military background)! I like Mark Harmon playing Gibbs and quoting the Duke again and again: "Never apologize. It´s a sign of weakness..."

  • This morning I watched "Kill Me Again", a Val Kilmer vehicle in which he plays a private eye in a small Nevada town. He owes $10000. to some loan sharks and they're threatening to do him some serious bodily harm. Suddenly, a sexy gal waltzes into his office and offers him ten thou to fix things so it looks like she's been murdered. Turns out she's stolen big bucks from a sadistic boyfriend who'll probably kill her if he catches her. The boyfriend in turn has murdered and stolen the money from some mob boys. Not a bad actioner.

  • I detest Sean Penn's radical leftism so much that I have in the past promised myself I'd never, ever watch a movie to which he was connected in any capacity. Well, I discovered today that one of my favorite Jack Nicholson films was directed by Penn so guess I'll have to break that promise.

The movie is "The Pledge" and I'm not only enthralled by some of Nicholson's best acting since "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" but by the magnificent cinematography and a wonderful score. This was about the third or fourth time I've watched this movie and I enjoyed it today just as much as the first time I saw it. As much as I hate to admit it, I must say that Penn did one hell of a job of directing.

Jack is a detective who, on the day he retires from a Nevada police force, happens to accompany some fellow officers to a crime scene in which a little girl has been hideously raped and murdered. Since nobody else at the scene wants the unwelcome task of informing the little girl's parents, Jack volunteers and while doing so, makes a pledge to the girl's mother that he'll catch the monster who butchered her daughter. This even though he's officially retired as a police officer.

Jack becomes totally obsessed with tracking down the killer and while doing so, it gradually drives him over the edge. I won't describe more of the film in case someone wants to see it but I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys great acting. He should have won the Oscar for this role, IMO.

  • From Earth to the Moon, a real exciting 12episodes mini-series, produced by Tom Hanks, about the Apollo Programm.
