Just their way of trying to pretend that Duke never exist in the first place. It's like the civil war really didn't exist either just to not offend our black population. I'm not saying that I favored the war between the states, but it did happen and just ignoring it doesn't mean it didn't happen. Liberal's think that way. And that is how they want to tribute John Wayne.

      Cheers

Liberals are always trying to denigrate or even ignore conservative values. I'm not surprised at this effort to change the name of the John Wayne Airport. These liberals probably want to consign the statue to the scrap heap as well!:glare:

Ethan has a great point in that article, ejgreen77. Thanks for sharing it.

"funny that an airport named after one of the most-recognizable personalities in recent American history is being deemed 'too confusing' .........Are people also confused when they fly to John F. Kennedy Airport? Do they not know they are going to New York?"

I know a little about John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California because in the 1960s and 1970s I Flew into what was known as Orange County Airport 100s of times, and No-One in the U.S. knew anything about the Airport, but the People that lived in or near Orange County?

After Duke's Passing and they Renamed it John Wayne Ariport, most People in the U.S. Now knew where it was !

If they Rename it "John Wayne Orange County Airport," it will only be a Short Time until they will Just Drop The John Wayne name, and it will become Orange County Airport again, just like it was in the 1970s !!!

Chilibill, you have hit the proverbial "nail on the head," although if they do that, then the Springerville/Eagar airport could be renamed The John Wayne Airport , gateway to the John Wayne Museum and 26 Bar Ranch!

Now if I can Just Get The M-O-N-N-E-Y to get my hands on the Statue of Duke that is at The John Wayne Airport at Orange County?
      (bud)

      wyntoontrip.com/DUKE8A.html Picture of Duke's Statue.

On the Second Picture of Mike and His Father in Front of the Bank, I was told that that Statue is Long Gone, and "The Porno King Larry Flint" now has the Building?

Hey don't you know that they plan to call it the Sean Penn Airport? He's more liberal for the airport and we all know how special he is. Just Kidding

Face it, John Wayne is way too American for those dweebs running things, but what they fail to realize is that America (Meaning the little folk like me and you) can't get enough of the man who more than anyone else epitomizes what this country used to stand for. At least the flag still stands and Duke is the extra star on the flag.
