  • Cinematographers, were responsible for putting the magic
onto the silver screen, and without them, the spectacle would never be!

    Four such men,
William H. Clothier,Archie Stout, Winton Hoch and Bert Glennon
were without doubt very special to Duke and his movies.
Clothier and Hoch, more or less took over the mantle,
from Stout, for the years after!

Archie Stout was Duke's first favourite cinematographer,
and like Clothier, spent most of his working life, with Duke.

He served as the cinematographer on most of Duke's early
    Lone Star Movies.
Paul Malvern the producer of those movies declared:-

    Quote

He was the finest exterior cameraman, ever born...
These films are beautiful to look at.

Stout later worked for John Ford, as Second Unit work
    on such classics as Wagonmaster

He is the only cinematographer to be nominated
and win an Academy Award for second unit photography
for John Ford's The Quiet Man (1952).
