And though I thought he was a fine man and actor, he was not my favorite and didn't care for him in the movie he did with Duke. But my favorite of him was in The Great Escape. R.I.P. Richard Attenborough. And I just remembered I also liked him in The Flight of the Phoenix with James Stewart.

I just got word that Andrew V. McLaglen, director in a lot of John Wayne movies has died on August 31, 2014. He was 94 years old. I found this in a newspaper from where he lived. http://www.sanjuanjournal.com/news/273668601.html So sad to see him go.

R.I.P. Andrew. You directed so many great pictures, like McLintock!, Chisum, Cahill, U.S. Marshal.

I learned today of the passing of one of the last men dedicated to the western film and a collaborator with Duke on many of his best efforts, including my favorite film The Quiet Man. Rest in Peace Andrew, may the angels take you into Paradise.
