  • I remember watching a couple of The Alaskans but, my parents used to watch The Roaring Twenties every week so, saw alot of those shows.

Hi Wayne, what years were these shows played? I just barely rem, ember getting to watch the last season of Daniel Boone. We watched part of it only because my Dad never liked Rosie Gree for some reason?

I take it that The Roaring Twenties is something like a Gangster type thing? Itll be something to look forward to watching if ever shown.

Ok Ringo, The Alaskans ran for one season, 37 episodes, in the 1959-60 season. It starred Roger Moore, Dorothy Provine, Jeff York and, Ray Danton.
The Roaring 20's ran for about two seasons, 1960-62, about 45 episodes. It centered on a newspaper reporter covering the war between the cops and gangsters in 1920's Chicago. It starred Dorothy Provine, Donald May, Gary Vinson, Mike Road, John Dehner and, Rex Reason. Donald May was the newspaper man, Dorothy Provine was a singer in a speakeasy, Gary Vinson worked for the paper and Mike Road was a cop. Incidently, Mike Road was also the voice of the more popular cartoon characters from back then. On Johnny Quest, he was the voice of Race Bannon.

  • Actress Lynn Redgrave has died of breast cancer at age 67. She was the daughter of famed English actor Sir Michael Redgrave and the sister of actress Vanessa Redgrave. Her nieve Natasha Richardson died about a year ago from a head injury she suffered while skiing. Lynn Redgrave jumped into the fame back in 1967 when she played the title role in Georgy Girl.

  • I couldn't post this last night because the site was being worked on but, here in Detroit we lost a true icon and legend in Ernie Harwell, who did play by play for the Detroit Tigers for many years. He also did baseball games on other venues over the years and some of you may have heard him. He was one of a kind. Besides broadcasting, he wrote a few books about baseball and wrote songs and was a man of many talents. He served in the USMC during WW2 and was a great baseball historian. He had an endless supply of baseball stories and knew personally, most of the greats of baseball, past and present. And he was as humble as they come and anybody could walk up to him and talk to him. And he had an uncanny memory. He could sit down with a bunch of strangers, find out their names and all about them and when he left, he would say goodbye to each and every person by name.
Last night, after suffering from terminal cancer for the last 8 months, Ernie Harwell died at his home with his wife at his side. He was 92. I got to meet him once at a special function with the Tigers and he just had another book published and was retiring from broadcasting and was doing a book signing. I bought a copy, and as he signed, I said, "Ernie, thank you for all those great years calling a game and for all the great memories". He simply said, "no, thank YOU for listening, with out you folks, nobody would've heard me". I don't know about anywhere else but, here in Michigan, there's not one person who won't carry around with them at least one memory of Ernie Harwell in their hearts. RIP Ernie and Semper Fi

  • I was sad also to hear the news about Ernie. He was the first radio voice of the Baltimore Orioles, when they came to town in the 50's. He spent several years here before moving on to the Tigers. I've only read one book by him, Diamond Gems, but enjoyed it thoroughly. He tells a great story. You will be missed, Ernie. Rest in peace.

  • The first time I ever saw John Davis Chandler was in The Young Savages w/ Burt Lancaster. Chandler played a teenage gang member on trial for the murder of a rival gang member. From then on, he made a career of playing the mean nasty type and he was good at it.

  • Rest in Peace Lena-=loved your voice.

Rest in Peace John. I didnt know what you looked like but I remember seeing your name listed in the credits for: Major Dundee.
