  • Years ago I read an interview where "Duke" was talking about his "farming business" in Arizona and went on to say how much he loved the area and the citizens. He said the residents were so nice to him and he was able to just go into town, grab a bite to eat, and just generally go about his business without people coming up and asking for autographs or pictures. He went onto say it was nice being treated like a regular person. I think that had a lot to do with the fact that the movie star was in fact a regular person as well and didn't put on airs. So unlike the "stars" of today. Check out his portrayal in the movie "Trumbo" where he testifies before a congressional committee about communism. Interesting.
