    In a captivating scene from the 1960 John Wayne film The Alamo, flamenco dancer Teresa Champion dances atop a small table in a cantina. Surrounded by an overzealous crowd, Champion unleashes a fury of footwork as her husband, Willie “El Curro” Champion, plays the guitar. The film, which was shot 130 miles south of San Antonio in the small town of Brackettville, was Wayne’s directorial debut and the most expensive film ever made at the time. For the Champions, it marked the beginning of a career stretching well into the 21st century and made them two of the most influential flamenco performers in San Antonio...............................................
