What a wonderful actor. A true gentleman and a man who actually broke his neck at a rodeo as a youth and it went unnoticed for twenty years. A regular in almost every Duke movie, and one character that I truly enjoy watching.

Hello Clyde:
Welcome to our gang, we have a great bunch of pilgrims here, and we hope you stop by often. That's a great site. Let Harry and Marilyn know we would be thrilled to "SEE" them once in awhile.

Duke: I know missy they don't look like much, but you have to consider that some people are like slinkys, not really good for anything, but they bring a smile to your face when pushed down the stairs!!!!!!!!!!

It has been some time since I last saw Circus World. Not his best work, but they did'nt exactly surround DUKE in this movie with a stellar cast either. Has some great scenes especially when the trapeze artist is flung into the water and then the ship capsizes.
Saw this on TV, and thats more years then I care to admit pilgrims.

When I saw this video I almost fell out of my chair. I actually tortured my funny bone until my stomach ached, and after like the 10th time I watched it I could not take anymore, because I could not see,my eyes were watering that bad.
RIO BRAVO will never be the same, this video has seen to that.

Let's see only six bedrooms, well I definitely want one ( it can be the small one ), and since chester has dibbs on the master,( I hope he doesn't snore), that leaves four. We could let the others out on a timeshare basis. Me thinks a heap big bidding war is in the making.
"As a clubhouse it would definitely be an attraction, and I think we might me able to keep the pool area occupied (we could charge a small fee)with the help of the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders!!!!!!!!!!

Lee: Well all I could find to wear was this suit of Dukes, it was a little musty smelling , but Duke was kind enough to bounce me off the rocks, it smells and looks much better now Doc.
Duke: Wish I had thought to put some of those rocks in his pockets!!!!

Yes Bill I know what you mean, I have been wanting to get down to Brackettville and see that site as well. And will time permitting, I also do a lot of Colorado and just recently was in Montrose, but unfortunately was not able to get down to Ridgway. I would like to eat at the True Grit cafe there. Got to be some memorabilia there dedicated to the Duke.

Ringo;
You mentioned Victor Mature in Samson and Delilah, and Kiss of Death. Surely you must have seen him in My Darling Clementine!
Perhaps the best portrayal of Doc Holliday ever put on screen!!
My two cents!! And yes Combat was an awesome series, I remember it well, still watch it when I can on TV. If I remember right it aired on Tuesday's at 7:30...

Was actually shocked to learn that Larry McMurtry had intended the part of Woodrow Call in Lonesome Dove for the Duke.
There was another thread recently which asked what roles would you have liked to see the Duke portray, and I nominated the part of Woodrow Call. It would have been an ideal role for Duke, as he most likely would have existentially been playing Tom Dunson. (His role from Red River). And with a little tweaking here and there of the script he would have knocked our socks off, It was in my estimation the absolutely one role the Duke was born to play, that came along after his passing. And I would be willing to wager money that he would have walked away with his second oscar by a landslide.
Woodrow Call was a killer, an even combination of Tom Dunson and Ethan Edwards with a smattering of Tom Doniphon, so you can see why I think he was a natural for the part!!!
