Thanks for the nice words Chester, EE and Etisja.
Besides Keith, I am often here even if I don't post. I like reading what you guys write.

9082 for me, and it was a fun game.

    Hi etsija.

Sorry, but I didn't see your previous post before now.

You are correct. I started using Popol Vuh on another forum a long time ago and I was listening to a song by the Norwegian band while registering. I have used it on a couple of other forums too. I have also read that it is the holy scripts of the Mayas, and I knew about the name confusion. The Norwegian band had to change it's name to "Popol Ace" since the German band had been using the name before the Norwegian band was formed.

Anyway I am barely old enough to remember the band and to young to have been a fan. If I had known I was going to stay on this message board for such a long tim I would have chosen something more "John Waynish", but I consider myself more of a fan of old movies, and espescially westerns than a John Wayne fan. He stars in more good westerns than anyone else though. I was just looking for some information about some westerns when I noticed a question Chester asked that I had been researching for about a half a day just prior to coming here so I registered to answer this. The discussions and friendliness of this board kept me here to stay for a long time.

I answer to some of my questions myself: Popol Vuh is a German band founded in 1969, they were much inspired by Mayan mystisism and the name means a "meeting place" in Mayan. To confuse things, another band, Norwegian, adopted the name slightly later, and I understand that also the music has a lot in common.

Well if the same ones keep coming back it might be a problem. You can double click the event to see some details and there is also a link where you can see if Microsoft has info on that particular event. Service Control Manager means that some sparticular service either can't start or is terminating. This is either a program or a driver that can't load. Don't bother too much about one time events though since this will often happen when you some other problems (for example if you try to install something that won't). See if you have events that come every time you start up.

You might also want to set your homepage temporarly to blank to check if your browser loads as slowly then.

You said Youtube ran smoothly, but did your browser still use minutes to launch?

There is some good advice here about removing spyware and viruses and stuff, and this should be done regardless, but if you use 5 minutes to open an application, you either have something really vicious on your computer or maybe you have other problems. If you have never run a spyware remover you are bound to find a lot of spyware.

I don't agree with 512 MB RAM being a minimum. Windows XP will run slowly, but not nearly that slow on 256 MB RAM. When I started working at the place I am at now one year ago we had computers running XP SP2 on 128 MB RAM and they were also 5-6 years old. 400 Mhz Pentium II processors. It was incredibly slow but even they could open a browser quicker than what you say.

I would check my event log first. Go to the "Control Panel", press "Administrative Tools" and then "Event Viewer". Espescially look in the system log for Error events (marked red). Some of these messages aren't easy to understand, but for example if you find a bunch of ATAPI error messages marked NTFS(or somesthing like that), then you should double click on them to read if you have a lot of bad blocks(wich was my first thought). This means you have a disk crash and need to start saving your files before replacing it(I hope I'm wrong).

A shot in the dark, but the event viewer is always the first place I look when a computer starts behaving this badly.

A good way of testing if you have processes that slow down your machine is running msconfig (go to run and write "msconfig"). It will start a small utility where you can stop services and program from runnin when you start your computer. Later you can just get your system back to the origional state by enabling them in the same utility.

Well anyways, good luck. If the suggestions you have got in this thread don't help you I think you will have to start answering the questons SXViper asked if anyone is going to be able to help you.

My best now is 320.9. I thought I was going to set an all-time record but this one penguin in particular had it in for me I tell you. Nose dived at 189 feet. I'm telling you guys it has an evil streak!!!

I watched this for the first time today, and having seen the ratings on IMDB I wasn't expecting much. Surprisingly I found it to be much better than the Lone Star pictures I have seeen. Pretty good story for these kind of pictures and a good blend of action and comedy.

This pretty much sums it up for me. I liked this movie all the way through. The outrageous propaganda in the end just makes it a "historic document" to me. I found this interesting.

Not much to add to what others have said. Over one and a half hour of entertainment with everything you want in a western. I like these movies having a touch of comedy. Maybe it's not great art, but I enjoy every minute of this one.

Thank you for doing a tremendous job Keith! I think there will be lots of people using these pages in the future, finding the information they are looking for and/or expanding their interest for certain movie stars, John Wayne, westerns and movies in general.

Halloween is a day that has no tradition here, allthough we are starting to see the merchants trying to push it on us here too the last few years. Quite frankly I can do without it.

Being grown up and not having celebrated it as a child I will let it pass without a celebration. Wow, what a negative post.

I have seen more than forty of John Wayne's films and can't think of one that is actually spooky (though I haven't seen Haunted Gold yet).

Having said all that, I would love to be proven wrong.

Well then you should watch Haunted Gold because I think it is the winner in the John Wayne spooky movie contest. Ok, it's so dated it's not really spooky anymore (watch it to see what I mean) but it's also a lot of fun.

Critics, found the story dated, too sentimental and sweet, and full of platitudes.

For once I have to agree with the critics. When I watched this I had great expectations since a lot of people had been expressing their longing for this movie to be released on DVD. It's not too bad, but I didn't really feel the need to see it again.

Rating 0/10 would be more like it. Except for that I agree. This is by far the worst John Wayne film I have seen, and it's not because I have to have John Wayne in every scene, because I don't. I usually get a kick out of watching the old b-movies despite their obvious flaws, but this one was just painful to watch. It seemed like 57 hours not 57 minutes.

I've said this several times but it bears repeating. This is a favorite with me, if for no other reason because the Duke plays against type. Furthermore, I thought he did an excellent job. And during the movie, I detected no signs that he was uncomfortable with either the role or direction.

And I'll agree with you every time. I don't understand why so many people seem to dislike it. Sometimes I like a movie and I know that most people will hate it, but not this one. Every time someone starts to point out the weaknesses of this film I seem to just disagree with them.

By an odd coincidence I bought this right before it is to be released on DVD. Well this certainly was different. Extremely silly, but entertaining. I enjoyed it even though I was sittng with the feeling that it was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. I guess the fact that they made it to use unused film explains a lot.

Interesting to see how times have changed and espescially the Blue Washington character. Biography for Blue Washington explains what I'm talking about. This is one movie that would never have been made today.

While I am posting in this forum I would like to thank you again, Keith, for all the work you put in to this forum. I hope you return, but if not at least you can see that these threads are being picked up again and we are reading them.
