I am from the Verde Valley in Northern Arizona and live on a small ranch near Sedona where they made many of the old westerns in the 40s and 50s. We still have "Working Ranches" and "Real Cowboys and Apache Indians" here! Chilibill :cowboy:

SXVIPER; Love the Weapon, and that type of Trigger is just what you need, that will make you a Expert. 3315 ft/ per. sec. that is a flat shooter! Do you get the Scope also? Chilibill :cowboy:

Hondo: We have the same problems here with wild game. A month will not go by without some one getting killed over on I-17 coming out of Flagstaff just 5 miles from me and hitting a Deer or Elk . When you hit a 1200 lb. Elk something has to happen. On the hand gun problem we seems to be moving ahead now that they said that the crime rate dropped by 25% in about 5 or 6 years with the new hand gun law. I never leave home without one. Amen !!! Chilibill :cowboy:

I think I said this this a while back but can not find it, or what Stumpy said about the Crime Rate! We have the Concealed weapon Law here in Arizona for about the last 10 years and the Crime Rate has gone down 25%. Just a month or so I got run off the road by a young guy coming back from town , and he pulled in front of me and then got out of his car and started running back to my car. I got out of my car and pulled my 38 cal. Colt Cobra from my belt holster, he ran back to his car and took off in a cloud of dust on the dirt road, I took his Plate number down and called the Sheriff Department on my Cell-Phone and they stopped him down the road a few miles. When the Sheriff came to the ranch to take the complaint Info. he said the young man said "That old S.O.B would have Shot Me" talking about me, and the Sheriff said you are Right I know him. He is now in Jail. Thank you that we still have the right to bear Arms in the State of Arizona!!! Chilibill :cowboy:

You "John Wayne" fans out there ; I just finished reading Chapter 24 "John Wayne. American" of Maureen O'Harra's new book and the book it is Great! Many great storys about Her and the Duke and their friendship and love for each other, and storys about John Ford, then the sad story of "The Duke" passing on!

This is a must read for all the Duke and Maureen Fans. I am just starting to read it again for the second time! When you read Chapter 24 there will not be a Dry Eye in the house!! Chilibill :cowboy:

Well here I am, and still do not know what the Hell I am doing! But I had two notes on my E-Mail saying that I should Post here for my 100th post what ever that is. But I am having a lot of fun Re-living the good old days. If I am not there yet "100th" just kick me off I will be back! Chilibill :cowboy:

Bandit ; What you see in the Duke's films is just the way he was in life ! But when I saw and talk to him in the late 1970s he was in failling health and had lost a lot of weight, but he talked the same , walked the same , and acted the same. He was tough and sweet with the ladys and they loved him. When my wife Martha and I dropped him off at Orange County Airport and said good by , he gave my wife a Hug and a kiss on the cheek and she allmost melted . The only thing she said on the way home in the one hour flight to Paso Robles was, "That was some Man!" Chilibill :cowboy:

Stumpy; You are right about trying to live in Sedona proper. When we came back to Arizona after 20 years in California I wanted a small ranch near Sedona. Boy was I shocked the land that you could buy in the late 1940s for $100.00 an acre if you had the $100.00 was now $1,000,000.00 per. acre. The big money peaple from California and New York had found it from the old movies. And also a lot of movie peaple from California. So we went about 5 miles south as the bird flys and could buy a small place for about $2000.00 per. acre .Yes I am about 15 min. from Montezuma's Castle. By the way what is a E-8 is that like a Master Sargent like we had in the Air Force in the old days? About 50 years ago I made what we called Buck Sargent "Three Stripes" before I went to 90 day Wonder Training school and then on to flight school. Chilibill :cowboy:

This makes it nicer knowing a little about anyone that you are talking to. I am glad that some of you live in the Bundocks like me ! I had a bull ranch near Paso Robles , Ca. but never made any money at it untill I sold out. I now live on a small ranch in the Verde Valley near Sedona, Az. and can go out the front door and see where the Duke made parts of some of his films. Chilibill :cowboy:

Saddle Tramp; I think you are right! When I was younger I did not want anyone to know anything about my life ! Now at the age of 73 years I do not give a Dam ! I have had one hell of a good life. 73 years old, thats one year older than the DUKE lived ! I am a engineer and in my early years wanted to be in the movies and did so. I am a pilot of 55 years and have done many films as the camera plane pilot. I have produced and directed 7 made for T.V. films "The Gunfighters" for the Hearst Corp., but I did not give up my day job as a Pilot. I was lucky to have worked in some of the early films of the Duke, and later in life spend 3 days at Hearst Wyntoon with him. He was one hell of a man! I liked what he told the director of "The Shootist" Don Siegel when he wanted the DUKE to drop his pants for one scene and he told him "There aren't going to be any bare asses in any movie I'm in , particularly if the bare ass is mine"! This was a real mans man!!! Chilibill :cowboy:

I do not know if I just over looked it in that long list of books on the Duke or not but about 20 years ago my wife gave me a book by PAT STACY about the last 7 years of the DUKES life. The book was "DUKE A LOVE STORY" ! She was his Secretary and later became his last love. She traveled the world with him and on Wild Goose boat with him . She was with him untill at his bedside to the end when he took his last breath. You Ladys will love this book its a real Tear Jerker at the end of his life. It was done by his sweetheart Pat Stacy from a womans veiw point ! Chilibill :cowboy:
