This movie inspired me to learn how to shoot ambidextrously. Almost every time I have 2 single action revolvers at the range with me, I re-enact the scene down by the river. Engaged steel targets yesterday and went 11/11 (one Ruger that can safely hold six and a traditional SAA clone that can only hold 5). Going to watch it with the wife (at HER request) later this evening.

Sons of Katie Elder. Classid Duke moment: When George Kennedy's character is dunking the feller in the bucket. John Elder comes up, finds a ax handle, hollers, and when Kennedy's character turns around he catches a good old fashioned Duke bust in the face.

Come on down to East Tennessee, ESPECIALLY if you can get here during the fall. The colors in the Smoky Mountains are stunning and on Saturday afternoon/evening you can see a college football game in a stadium that is bigger than most NFL stadiums and actually holds more people than live in Knoxville, Neyland Stadium. Just up in Clinton is the Museum of Appalachia where you can see how the hill people lived years ago, and WDVX (the local Americana station) usually sponsors Bluegrass music somewhere. Plenty to see and do here, and our cost of living is a lot lower than other places.

Almost forgot: the only State with more Civil War battlefields is Virginia.

Plain old Dave here.... I'm 36 and have liked Duke movies for about as long as I can remember, think I have seen @40 or so from the B westerns all the way up to The Shootist. I'm a Navy Reservist, and joined in part because of The Fighting Seabees. Was originally going to be an Equipment Operator, but that's neither here nor there. Looking forward to posting.
