Phantoms Review: Really nothing to say except The Greatest American Western Ever Made. A classic from start to finish. Excellent acting, direction, story.Just everything about it is damn near perfect. It doesn't get any better than this.

"Gunfight At The O.K. Corral" (1957)
    -Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas

Phantoms Review: Highly entertaining, if historically inaccurate retelling of the legendary gunfight. Plenty of action, and some fine acting from the entire cast. A really good movie, just don't write your history report from it :)

    "Hondo" (1953)
    -John Wayne, Geraldine Page

A cavalry scout helps a woman and her son defend their ranch

Phantoms Review: One of the best. Based on the novel by Louis L'amour ( which is a great read) this is one of Wayne's best movies. Plenty of action, great story, and terrific chemistry between the two lead actors. A classic.

    "Cowboys And Aliens" (2011)
    -Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford

    plot :
A 19th century gunslinger unites townspeople, outlaws, and a band of Apache warriors against an extraterrestrial threat.

Phantoms Review: I love this movie. Yes, it's goofy as hell, but it's supposed to be. A fun action packed sci-fi western.
Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig make very charismatic western heroes.
It's definitely not for everyone, but I like it. :)

If I can but in here for just a second and say "Have Gun, Will Travel" is one of my all time favorite shows. A terrific blend of good acting, intelligent stories, some fine action all wrapped up in 30 minute programs. A true western classic.

    "Gallowwalkers" (2013)
    -Wesley Snipes

    Plot: Rotten Tomatoes

A cursed gunman (Snipes) whose victims come back from the dead recruits a young warrior to help in the fight against a gang of zombies.

Phantom's Review: As I've stated in older posts, I love Horror, their my other favorite genre after westerns, so when these two genres meet, I always hope that we're finally going to get a film that shows the best of these two type of films. Sadly, "Gallowwalkers" dosn't even come close, to showing the best of anything.
To be fair, the film is shot nicely and the director tries to capture a spaghetti western look, which he does OK. and their are a couple of truly beautiful women in tight corsets that look nice, and Wesley Snipes makes for a charismatic western hero, but that's about it.
The plot is virtually non existent, the acting is below average, the action minimal, and the scares are none.
    A major disappointment.
Hopefully one day someone will make a good "Weird" western with the right amount of action and thrills, but that's not now.

    "The Black Swan" (1942)
    -Tyrone Power, Maureen O'Hara

    Plot: IMDB
Soon after Sir Henry Morgan is named Governor of Jamaica in 1674, he announces that the age of the pirate is over and asks his former captains to give up their ways and sail for England. Not everyone agrees and one in particular, Captain Leech, refuses. He does accept an offer however from English aristocrat Roger Ingram who provides him with sailing information in an attempt to unseat the newly appointed Governor. In an effort to thwart Ingram's plans, former pirate Captain Jamie Waring kidnaps Lady Margaret Denby, the previous Governor's daughter.

Phantom's Review: This early 40's Technicolor film is one of the all time great swashbuckling pirate adventures. Filled with spectacular fight scenes( both sword fighting and ship battles) excellent model FX, wonderful acting and a gorgeous leading lady.
Tyrone Power is at his best
    A classic .

High Plains Drifter, I have watched this movie often and I still can't make my mind up if he is a spirit that can't rest untill he is avenged, because he appears at the start of the movie out of a heat haze and leaves the same way at the end of the movie.

As a lifelong fan of supernatural movies, I always went with the "Avenging Spirit"angle.
But Eastwood did say in an interview, that in the original script, The Stranger was the dead marshals brother.
Eastwood himself took that out of the story so that fans could make up their own minds, and like I said earlier, I went with the "spooky" story.
