The theme from The Sons of Katie Elder is great. Thanks Chester.
-
there is a video on you tube of the making of the theme from "the good the bad and the ugly". It's pretty cool.

Hard to believe that Duke and Dean only made two movies together. Their chemistry was right on. Does anyone know of any reason why they only made two movies?

Chester thanks for the You Tube clip of Ken Curtis. The man had talent to portray a character such as Festus. He is the main reason I watch the Gunsmoke reruns. James Arness, Milburn Stone, and Amanda Blake are very good but when Ken is in a scene he steals the show. I love to see when "Festus" and "Doc" interact with each other.

Thanks Paula. I visited your Ben Johnson site. What a great job you did. Welcome to this site.

Sounds like an ambitious project. Good Luck can't wait to check it out.
-
Patrick, I agree.
-
Arthur, I agree with your post...I certainly take special notice whenever Strother enters a scene. I love the guy.

Ethan that is a great picture. Where is it from?

Awesome clips, enjoyed them very much. Thanks

Ringo I didn't know about Cannonball. Thanks for the info. I do agree he was great in Undefeated.

Smokey, I too have no answer as to a blue ray playing different regions but I would like to comment on blue ray dvds in general. My son gave me a blue ray player for Christmas and The Searchers on blue ray disc. You guys will not believe how great the Duke looks in 1080p high def. The picture is unbelievable. Now I have to start looking for other Duke movies on blue ray. If you get a chance check out a blue ray player.

Ethan thanks for the info I didn't know about the problem with John Ford. Ben was always a favorite of mine. He and the Duke seemed to be so comfortable with each other in a scene it is very easy to believe that they would be good friends offscreen as well.

If I missed a thread about Dub I apologize. He was always one of my favorites. I read that Buck Taylor (Newly on Gunsmoke) is his son. I thought that Dub always played such great supporting roles no matter the size of the part.

Harry Carey Jr. or "Dobe" as he lovingly is called is a true favorite of mine. I always enjoy his addition to a Duke movie. True professional that always turns in a good performance.
-
James Arness was very good as Matt Dillon. He was surrounded by an excellent supporting cast. I'm glad Duke turned down this role.
-
Clint is probably my second favorite actor behind the Duke. I love his Westerns and War movies. I think that Duke would have loved to have had the directorial success that Clint has had.

Those kids are awesome. I got tired just watching the video.
