Hellfighters is indeed one Duke's lesser offerings from this period, the movie is almost as if Duke was just fulfilling a contractual obligation and didn't really put his heart into this.

I really like 'Hellfighters', but watching it again recently and seeing this comment makes me feel as if Duke had a supporting role.

I saw this for the first time recently. I approached it with caution as I'd previously read a comment somewhere that said it was bad and supposedly 'Duke's worst film with Dietrich'.

I have to say, I loved it. As for it supposedly being Duke's worst with Dietrich, I much preferred it to 'The Spoilers' (which I saw for the first time the following day).

Well the run-time is quoted at 122mins,
perhaps the DVD is running slower!!!!

I attributed that four minutes to being that actual film at the cinema runs slightly slower than DVD/VHS etc. There have been lots of instances in the past where running times are credited as longer than they actually are, for this reason.

However, if anything has been cut from the DVD release of 'Reap The Wild Wind', I'd be curious to know what is was and why.

I watched this again this evening. Superb stuff - hadn't seen it in a long while.

I'm curious about something though - the DVD runs for 118 mins. I could've sworn my old VHS was longer than that; am I mistaken?

Sadly, I no longer have a receipt; it was part of the 34 disc set, so I'd hate to take the whole thing back anyway. Since the discs are the same, I may try picking up the separate region 2 disc of 'Lady From Lousiana/Flame of Barbary Coast' and replacing it with that. I could then take the separate disc back as faulty. Sure, that means I'd have a spare, but could probably give it to someone.

    Hello!

I'd had this film on video previously but never watched it that much. I enjoyed it though, which seems to go against popular opinion!

Recently, I upgraded it to DVD, having purchased that Universal 34 disc box set.

I have a quick question for anyone whom own the region 2 DVD: are those nasty glitches where the sound drops out between approx the 30 and 32 minute mark present on all the DVDs? I hope I haven't got a dud...
