Folks,Jack Warden has passed away. You may remember him as Doctor Dedham from Donovan's Reef.

He was great in Donovan's Reef.
I also remember him as the pants less gun touting judge in "...and Justice for All"A good long life

How about Swing Out Sweet Land on DVD
How about the long version of The Alamo????? with a bonus disc of supplements that include Spirit of The Alamo????
Spirit of the Alamo is one I would especially like a clean copy of. My VHS is very tough to watch. ...but I still put it on every once in awhile because it was so good. It has Jester singing Green Leaves of Summer and some choral moments with Dimitri Tiomkin.
What great music!Anyway those are my top picks
...Just thought of another...
An uncut Cowboys that has scenes with the Indians and the Bear! -

Howdy Rob and everyone else,
I did buy the boxed set last week (with 7 sinners, jet pilot, conqueror, pittsburgh, and shepherd of the hills), but have not had the time to watch them yet. I've been busy transferring by dubbed VHS tapes of John Wayne to DVD. I have the John Wayne / John Ford collection on order, and can't wait to get it! I have been looking forward to it for quite a while now. I'll be glad to get the American Masters documentary with it since I missed it when it was on PBS.By the way, does anyone know if the documentary "John Ford, John Wayne & The Searchers: The Turning of the Earth" is included with this set?
Best,

The Turning of the Earth is on the second disc of The Searchers movie. It's very good.
I just watched the American Masters (on the second Stagecoach disc) It too is very good.
Hollywood has never had a better director/star combo as Wayne/Ford! What a body of workRob

I bought it last night at best buy. I watched the Searchers and the suplements for hours. Tonight its the bonus material from the Stagecoach disc... then maybe Stagecoach.
I will not watch 3 Godfathers... thats a movie I save for Christmas!
Did anyone buy the box set last week that featured Pittsburg, 7 Sinners & Shephard of the Hills?

From the John Wayne / John Ford Box set.
...The Searchers
I watched both discs. The bonus material was classy, and a lot of fun to watch.
The movie is... well it's the Searchers. While the Alamo is and always will be my sentimental favorite... It's impossible not to admit this may be the best film he ever made!

Well...
I'm new, but not new to the world of John Wayne. I am 42 years old and have been a fan since I saw The Alamo on television over 35 years ago. I have collected John Wayne material for over 30 years.
My name Robhightower comes from Bob Hightower from 3 Godfathers.I have visited this sight before but have never really thought of joining the forum. I would really like to meet and talk with fellow Wayne fans.
Well I guess I will close for now... But I sure will be talking in the near future on some of the strings that are going.
God Bless John Wayne
