Ok now, I almost didn't finish reading your post and the reply was going to be nasty. Outstanding! I was fooled royally. Enjoy your April.

Ringo, a quick trip down to Schulenberg or Fredericksburg will take care of those German hankerings. I remember when I was 16, I ate some garlic infested sausagemacallit and couldn't stand myself for days on end. However, I've since grown accustomed to the rich foods and enjoy a run to the german deli every once in a while. One of the FEW benefits of living in Portland is the variety of places to eat I am currently enjoying the delicacy of Hand-Foot-Mouth disease that was home delivered to me from that great chain of eateries known as daycare. So as far as eating anything solid, I'm down to soup with soft crackers. Whodathunkit, a grown man getting this. Hope all is well with you.

This past December when I attended the 65th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor, one WWI survivor showed up and he was treated like a rock star. Unfortunately, I did not bring my camera with me as we were at the actual ceremony and I thought it was distasteful to film the occurence (of course as soon as I showed up, it looked like all 400 survivors had cameras). Anyway, this gentleman was in his uniform and any chance at shaking his hand was next to impossible as he attracted a mob. It is sad that we are losing so many vets (about 1000 a day for WWII vets), but I would agree with SXViper who said to celebrate their lives and sacrifices. Just another reason to reach out a hand of any vet (no matter the age) and thanks them when you get a chance.

And their Limeaides are still most delicious as well as their Grape flavor. Also, the burger joint you miht be thinking of sounds like: Red-Line Burgers. They have the same set-up here as there. Well-used to, all of them close down here in CC, for some reason. Shame too, for a cheap place, their burgers were very decent.

All in all, although I love Sonic, I will take Whataburger any day of the week. Man I am sooooo homesick. As far as the Mexican food Ringo, we found a little hole in the wall that is pretty authentic and of course my wife does a fair job. My mother in law is visiting in May and I will eat like a king. I still need to look up that shaved ice name. I'll get back to ya.

Hi Bo, I remember those too. Also, I remember that at Sonics, that you can get Frito Pie there but is much too small an amount to fill ya up. Also, the way I fix it is much much better--you get more cheese and chili. In fact, I fixed a small can of this last night, and boy it sure tasted great. :D I might even have it again tonight if im not out of Wolf brand Chili.

I can't figure that one out though? Pickle juice over ice? I won't say :stunned: but, I might say :uhoh: Also, the snow cone sounds good, I have not had one in years. I remember last year I ALMOST bought one of those snowcone making machines from Wal-Mart but didn't. I think I will this year. Get one and take it to my balcony and just sit outside eating snow cones while everyone else is sweating profusely.

Goodness Ringo, they opened a Sonic up here and you think that it is the best place in Oregon. Serious, an hour wait to get a burger. But you know I was in the line trying to get a taste of home. I really can't explain the pickle juice. I know it sounds like a pregnant woman on a binge, but .......nope, can't explain it. I'll be in Hawaii next month and we plan to stop at the original shaved ice place. I'll let you know how it is. I know what you mean about sweltering in the heat and humidity down there, but I would trade that for the wet and cold anytime. Good talking to you as always.

I for one liked the movie, but I would have to say I'm disappointed in Butler's remarks. Typical Hollywood double talk though. With that said, the movie is a fantastic adaptation of the graphic novel and even though it is violent, it is done in a way that is over the top and nothing realistic compared to "Saving Private Ryan". You get what you expect, especially if you've seen "Sin City". As far as the "Persians" being pissed, what exactly do they not protest. They use these things to further the 'pc' generation and make inroads to divide our country. Unfortunately, it will work. Do to my inability to feel sorry for any of them, I'm inviting my whole enforcement team to watch the thing again.

Ringo, I have fond memories of frito pie being served at every concession stand Friday nights during the football games. They used to slit open the side of a small bag of fritos and then pour the chili in followed by the cheese. In came the spork (actually a fork back then) and then garnish with whatever suited your needs. All for the amazing cost of $1. Of course a return trip was needed for the snow cone. I was the weird one that liked pickle juice poured over my ice. Only in Texas.

Hi Todd, Did I mention Costner's name? -- Just kidding. Actually, to give him a bit of credit, I did like him in: "The Untouchables." I guess what I can't really stand about him is that he reminds me too much of Francis Ford Coppola's Nephew (I can never think of his name.)

Ringo, I think you are talking about Nicholas Cage. That you mentioned him is funny as my unit recieved some new drysuits from USIA and as they are new to us, the owner sent some of his pros down to help us out. As we were talking to him, one of the guys recieved a call from Jerry Bruckheimer about a drysuit they are making from Nicholas Cage for his new movie National Treasure 2. I thought it was cool, but the guy told me they do a lot of work for Hollywood and that they had supplied recently for Tom Cruise. No word about Costner though.Bo

    All politicians are hypocrites!!!

And until we live in a country where you can actually speak your views and stand by them without being labeled "closed minded" and the ever reliable "out of touch", the politicians have no choice but to flip-flop to remain elected. As long as we have a media that spoon feeds the bull%)&* that passes as news and the average voter knows more than the damn sound byte from the previous nights newscast then you can bet that all politicians will be stuck in the ebb and flow of American ignorance.
    Bo
And to add to this, the American voter is as much as an hypocrite. We hold candidates from opposing parties and view points to a much tougher standard than the ones that follow our own party lines. Where the hell is the real men in this world???

Watched 'A Good Year' . A pretty descent flick although not to well received by audiences. I would recommend it for a cold night with the lady. Russel Crowe actually pulls off a nice job in a comedic turn.

I really hate doubling up on movies and the wifers will no doubt be up in arms if I try to buy some of these that I already own. Soooo, it looks like garage sale time. It's the special features that are fun to watch. Any digital improvements to the movies are moot at this point and few can tell the difference. Something to look forward to.

I really enjoyed Nemesis, and look forward to a new movie. The actor who played Rocky's son in the last movie Rocky Balboa seems to have the physical traits to play a young Spock. I think his name is Vigo or something. As far as Kirk, I could only guess. Maybe DiCaprio??

I remember a while back in '97 (give or take a year) that I bought an issue of a magazine called "Arizona Highways"?? and there was an article and pictures of Ben Johnson on a ride through Monument Valley. I believe this came after his passing as the title (if I remember correctly) was "Last Ride". If this is so, what a timely article and a very poetic last ride for such a man.

Ringo, I think we need to go have a picnic as you seem to be quite adept at attracting objects other than ants. I would have to say that my wife probably packs a sting herself.

I had this great recipe tonight. If there is anything good that has come out of my confinement here in the nasty north, its halibut. What a terrific dish. I pounded out a few fillets to about an half inch and ran the fillet through some japanese bread crumbs (Panko is a good brand). After that I ran it through some milk and egg mix and back through the bread crumbs. This is a lot like a chicken-fried steak. I fried it in olive oil for about 4 minutes each side. Take some lime (lemon is way over-rated) and squeeze it on top with some cilantro and wow, best fish. If any of you guys like a good ceviche let me know.

I really think this is Duke at his accumalative best. I actually like all of the other cast members and enjoyed the lighter moments. This is the first of Duke's pictures that I ever remember watching, so maybe I'm not being very objective. As far as Duke goes, I believe it is one of his smoothest performances, you could just feel he was on top of his game. Not enough scenes with Richard Boone or Maureen although I feel the scenes he had with her was an extension of McClintock. Overall, my favorite Duke movie.
