It never ceases to amaze me the diverse gifts and knowledge that abound on this site. Tbone and Chilibill together at a campfire would require pen and paper or at least a tape recorder to remember everything that was said.

All I can do is echo every sentiment that was mentioned above and wish you all the luck in the world in your job search. Hopefully we will not have too much of an intermission while you are away. Happy hunting bro.

Thanks for the sentiments up above there Ringo. My wife actually picked out a movie for us the last couple of nights and we ended up waching "Donovan's Reef". Great flick overall. My wife is always amazed when she watches a movie and I show her some actors that she knew from other shows. Ceasar Ramero(spelling???) was one of them. Pretty light on the story, but a lot of fun to watch.
I'm hoping to get y'all a report of "Pirates" in a few days if my schedule lets up.

I wish I could help Maudy out with that one Kilo, but I've read many of Duke's bio's and don't remember coming across something like that. That isn't to say it's not true, rather that I don't remember. I hope someone can bring up something for her though. Good Luck.

Return it friend and get the second disc. It has soooooo much stuff on it. The documentaries are fantastic and as I said in an earlier line, there is one part during the documentary that has no sound byte, but shows Duke and Pappy just sitting, playing cards, and having a few beers. Worth every last penny. Good luck to ya.

And look at all the movies I never knew he was in and now can look forward to watching. This site is fantastic. Thank you as always.

I'm with Ringo Kid on this one. Happy Belated :headbonk: 4th of July to the U.S. of A. I don't know why I didn't think to write any of this yesterday. wow

I had a chance to sit down and start watch the "Train Robbers" earlier and I have to say that ol' Ben Johnson was not just a fine actor, but a perfect compliment for Duke. I never really knew he was such an accomplished actor, nor did I ever recognize that he was in so many of Duke's movies until I read an "Arizona Highways" article chronicling his passing. Since then, I have become quite a fan of his movies. I know, a slow start, but I caught on. :headbonk:

Just an observation - if I'm not mistaken, aren't nearly all the superheros American? ^^
    Cheers - Jay :D

Hmmmm, not quite sure about that one. I would guess that the majority of them are, but I was talking about the Duke with that last sentence. He most difinitely is American. Thanks

Ringo Kid, no apologies necessary for stating the truth. I noticed that as well, but since I've thrown a couple of rants on this site as well, I didn't want everyone here thinking I was pissed at the world. Superman is an easy target for changing and molding to whatever Hollywood agenda is currently supporting. Look what has happened to Christian values and symbols country wide. Problem is our kids these days follow this tripe like it IS the gospel. Just be lucky that Superman wasn't wearing a pink tutu and burning an American flag like I see here in Portland every other month. Yes, I do have to stand security in some situations for the anti-bush rallies, anti-war rallies, gay rallies, and just about any rally you could conceive of. The best part of these of course is the eventual burning of the flag. No matter what the event, it happens. Of course the people are always masked, but it happens nontheless. I could go on and on about this, but I'm going to chill and enjoy this site for what it is, a great place to talk with good people about one hell of an AMERICAN icon.

I haven't seen it yet, but I'll probably check it out on DVD when it comes out (and it will). I have a feeling it will play better in one sitting without commercial interruptions than over 2 nights with commercials.

It should be noted, however, that this did HUGE ratings for AMC - their best ever by far! If just one thing can come out of this it is that I hope we will see more Westerns produced in the years to come. Hopefully the studios can see that between the ratings for this and the surprising box office for Open Range a few years ago that there is still a strong market for well made Westerns.

Thats a good point to make. There is a huge market for westerns and not only for the older generations that were luckily weaned on them. The movie wasn't bad per say more than it was disappointing and didn't live up to the hype. It had it moments and I would have to agree with a prior post that Thomas Hayden Church was great. So here's hoping that some quality westerns will be on the way.

I like the premise of this. Especially when you can get a group of members together to light a fire under the execs who hold out on the older movies/series that they have forgotten. I'm really disappointed in the selection though. Warner can do better than that. Thanks EJ for the heads up.

After finishing the movie, I found it less than advertised. In fact, I erased it off the tivo. A lot of filler and not a lot of cohesive story. I'm embarassed to say that I fell asleep during the second half.

Great set! No doubt about it. Did anyone catch that part in the documentar with Duke and Ford playing cards and having a beer? That scene was priceless. Says alot about their relationship. Who wouldn't have wanted to be privy to those conversations?

    Hi all,
I just finished watching the first part of Broken Trail and wondered what all of you guys and gals think? Duvall's character wasn't around as much as I'd like, but he's borrowing heavily from his performance in Lonesome Dove and Open Range. I'm not complaining mind you and the movie so far is terrific.
