I just watched this movie again for the first time in many years. I have one question, can the final fight scene be adjusted? John Wayne's stunt double is too obvious to the point of distraction.

Logging onto this forum today I felt somewhat nostalgic and indeed sad. This was for me on of the best and most active forums online, with a great community and general civility.
Change is progress as they say, however, not all change is good, 2020 was a terrible year for many and online decorum is very much a thing of the past.

I'm hoping to travel to San Francisco later in the year and the reason for this thread is twofold:
1. Are there any John Wayne haunts that I should be looking out for?
2. Does anyone have any recommendations for accommodation? What I have seen thus far is quite expensive but I am told this is the norm.

This is a very authentic and intelligent western with a great performance from Charlton Heston. My only gripe with the movie was the extremely disappointing gunfight at the end which the viewer had been waiting for since the first encounter with Donald Pleanance and his family.
Is it wrong that I prefer this cavalry movie over the famous trilogy? Albeit I need to re-watch "Fort Apache" as I have not seen it for a few years.

You know I ALWAYS thought John Wayne was sick during the shooting of this film. Of course we do have to add he did an uncredited voice over in Star Wars. A fun fact for sure. So why did he not make anymore films after the Shootist? I would be curious to know, because he seem to stay on a pretty consistent shooting schedule there for some time. Was he purposely retiring from the craft?
