Quote I got from Tim was $20.00 for airmail plus I would have the hazzle of getting a dollar check or money order which would also add to the cost.

To be honest whilst I would have liked to have bought from Tim it was not viable option for anyone outside USA.

    Mike

That's a little steep... I haven't talked to him in awhile, but that sounds awful high. Definitely not what I paid. Wait a minute... now I see why. You not in the US. No wonder it's so high. I guess I don't pay attention to where people are at. With the weight of the book being 2 lbs. then $20 is very reasonable.

Members in the US could definitely get them from Tim and get a decent shipping price.

An autographed copy would be nice but it was less hazzle and easier to get through Birthplace and shipping was much lighter .

    Mike

It was just a suggestion for those who want an autographed copy. The book price is the same and shipping from the Birthplace is $9.50 while shipping from Tim is cheaper. No hassle at all, I sent Tim a check and he sent me the book. Just an option since I get as many as I can autographed.

If you buy it directly from Tim Lilley himself he'll autograph it for you. Just remember after celebration price is $30 for the book and $5.00 for shipping. Plus he autographs it for you. Big plus in my book. Tim is a great guy, I also get his yearly book he puts out called The Trail Beyond. I have all but the first issue, it's a yearly book.

I buy all the books I can and then read them as I can. I got the Oscar book for $5 and the Roses Parade book for $2. I bought an old magazine with Duke in it on eBay for $.01 yesterday. I also found an excellent book last night on eBay for $6, never seen it before.

I've gotten behind... I bought about another dozen books in the last week or so but since I can't post them in a large block and a single post I lose track. I do know I got this book today but would have to figure out which others are new in the last week.

40 years old would make the person 3 years old when the TV show was on. So I guess it's possible. If your into old TV shows that would help too. There are places where you can find old TV shows available. I only remember because I was shoved in front of the TV set every night.

I don't know where he's getting it but I suspect it's a pirated or fake DVD. Seeing most of the DVD's he's selling were never put out on VHS or DVD. And not sending overseas is so customs doesn't catch him because believe me they do check packages. I ordered something from the John Wayne Film Society and it got to me with a Homeland Security seal on it. They had opened and checked the contents. They saw it was legit and sent it on it's way.

I've never dealt with that seller so who knows where it's from. Check his other items, all of them are never before released films.

The poster image is already in the movies section.

I have dropped way off the Top 10 in almost every category so I'm sure GT will be passing me very shortly. I am just too busy elsewhere. I'm sure he'll hit 1300 way before me.

You really have to be old to recognize most of the people in the show. All the way from Red Skelton to Jack Benny and Rowan & Martin. One of the best parts is the last chapter. I'll bet over 75% of them are gone already.

The wife and I sat down and watched Wild Hogs the other night and I watched Live Free, Die Hard yesterday afternoon.

Tim Allen was good in Wild Hogs. The new Die Hard movie is much more hi-tech. I'd probably go a 2½ starts on both out of a possible 4. Both are not great but good entertainment.

I'm wanting to see Underdog and the Bourne Ultimatum as soon as I re-watch the first two movies. The wife wants to see Hairspray (gag) and I'm not a Simpson fan.

Just about anywhere... I got mine from Amazon but I would imagine even Walmart has it. It was just released this week. I pre-ordered in May and it was shipped on May 28th. Just shop around for : John Wayne's Tribute to America

The only thing wrong about it is the company that released it. MPIHomeVideo is not the best. I put them on the same level as GoodTimes or PassPort. I wish Warner Bros. or someone would have taken it, digitally enhanced the video and audio to make a great release. But they just went from film to DVD without any enhancements. They even messed up the What's My Line segment.

I had forgotten Anheuser-Busch sponsored it. I remember seeing the Clydesdale's a couple months ago here for our Heritage Days parade. Beautiful animals...

You all do know this isn't new... it was a TV show from 1970. The original title was Swing Out, Sweet Land. It was on NBC and originally done as his response to the war in Vietnam to show his support. We watched this on TV when I was in 9th Grade, Back then that was still Junior High School what I guess they call Middle School now. But I remember we were all glued to our TV sets watching Duke and all the other famous actors.

I'm sure the seating is full already but the cheapest seat was $250. Clint got the award last year. John Wayne already got the award back in 1996 and his son Patrick got it in 1998. No one got it in 2004. Kind of a weird award. Just about anyone who ever played in a western can get it... even DeForest Kelley got it in 1999.

The honorees for this year are: Caruth C. Byrd, Lee Horsley, Shirley Jones, Martin Kove, Walt Larue and more to be announced. Maybe their giving Duke some centennial award or who knows. It a fundraiser for the Motion Picture & Television Fund Foundation.

I've been getting anything I can with Duke's name on it. My bookcase is full, I have a full barrister (glass door bookcase) and our walls are getting full of photos, metal signs and all sorts of things.

There are a lot of emails that come through that try to sucker you into something. Unless I know the sender, it gets deleted usually by my providers spam controller or by my email software. Anything that my provider or my software has label as suspicious I simply don't open. I still use the older Netscape v7 for my email so opening it doesn't activate anything in the email like Outlook does so I can look at the From, To, Date and Subject without executing any viruses. Typically I open my mail files in notepad and check them for flaws which can tell me if its fake or not. Just takes some extra steps but it's worth going the extra step. And there are more than just cards without a sender's name, they are trying many more things.

I also used to send all the emails to [email protected] or [email protected] since those are the departments that are suppose to take care of them. But I easily found out they simply send you two automated responses and delete the emails you sent them. They don't have the manpower or give a damn that their customers are getting hammered with fake emails. So they don't bother to take any action so I don't bother telling them anymore. I even reported a customer that sent me a pyramid scheme in a shipment and they didn't do a thing.
