Stumpy; Is There room for you in the house? And I thought I had a lot of tapes and DVDs! I did spot one of DVD that I had something to do with. I flew the camera aircraft for "STARMAN" when he was Escaping from the Bad Fed. Man and the Army Helicopters at Meteor Crater in Northern Arizona at the end of the film. Chilibill :cowboy:

My wife gets pretty aggravated at me for spending so much money on DVDs but she doesn't do without much so she can't really complain. And I don't spend a lot of money on other stuff. Well, except for computer gear.

I noticed that I included 3 films on the list that I don't have yet. They're pre-ordered though and I'll have them in the next couple of months. Those are "Daddy's Dyin', Who's Got The Will", "Ivanhoe" and "King Solomon's Mines". I also haven't yet added "Broken Arrow" and "Fort Apache", the discs you sent me, to the list. I'm impressed. I have 411 movies on DVD and probably another 60 or 70 on tape (as I'm able to acquire DVDs of my favorite movies, I give the tapes to my kids or my brother) but nowhere near 500 westerns. However, a good percentage of mine are westerns and war movies because those are also my favorite genres. I like almost any genre except horror and science fiction, though like you, the first three Star Wars movies are among my favorites.

However, AMC, has definitely taken a turn for the worse when they started playing the newer movie especially horror movies.

The thing that disappoints me most about AMC is their introduction of commercials.

I bet that it was more realistic and probably kept him alive longer.

You got that right, Arthur. A sawed-off 12 gauge loaded with double-ought will do more damage to the bad guys than 37 six-guns.

I'm hoping that "Santa" will give me that movie as well as Treasure of the Sierra Madre; for Christmas ;-))

It's great to encounter someone your age who has an appreciation for the older films which, for the most part, were much better movies than those made in recent years. In reading the posts on IMDB and similar web sites, it sometimes seems that almost everyone under 40 likes nothing but horror and gore, with generous dollops of sex thrown in. What would be really great is to see enough people like you cause Hollyweird to revise its' thinking and bring back westerns and old-fashioned comedies.

Kinda reminds me a bit of: "Last Train From Gun Hill" which has Kirk DOuglas and another favorite of mine: Anthony Quinn. I liked the movie but did not like that Anthony Quinn was the main bad guy--though he was great in that role.

Are you awaree, Ringo, that "Last Train From Gun Hill" was released on DVD last Tuesday? You can buy it from Deep Discount DVD for $9.36, with free shipping.

Is this the movie where he was a Quaker or something and he later on joins the Union Army? I seem to recall something about a Goose as well.

Yes, he and his family were Quakers living on a farm in Indiana during the Civil War. Dorothy McGuire played his wife and Anthony Perkins his oldest son. Near the end, Perkins takes up arms to repel Confederate raiders which, as you know, is strictly against Quaker teachings. It was an extremely charming movie. One of my favorites.

I didn't much care for the Cooper films "They Came To Cordura" or "Vera Cruz". I liked him in "Sergeant York".

I think his best movie was when he played Beau Geste in Beau Geste.

Have you ever seen "Friendly Persuasion", Ringo? That was by far my favorite Coop film.
