down to the smallest of small-town storymakers (like the guy who could "fart songs" with his hands - he played "Stars and Stripes Forever").

Try picking up his Ultimate collection on DVD. It is quite the treasure.

Jen, funny you should mention that particular guy . . . last night as we were watching the first DVD in our set of The Ultimate Carson Collection Vol 1-3, we got a real laugh out of him, as he was one of the guests included.

SXViper, I'm guessing that is the same set to which you made reference. We've had it quite awhile, but thought it "timely" to watch it last night.

Kevin, we too taped those last shows of the great Johnny Carson back in '92. The entire last show is included in the DVD set . I remember watching it in real time, and the Mrs. and I commenting on how quickly that hour went (we just didn't want it to end, I guess).

Unfortunately, John Wayne doesn't seem to be one of the celebrity guests included in this set.

    Sad news, indeed :( .

We have many fond memories of Johnny Carson.

In checking IMDb, we learned that John Wayne made two appearances on The Tonight Show, on February 7, 1971, and again on October 15, 1975. Sure would love to see clips of those visits with Mr. Carson!
