Don't be too hard on him, Arthur. After all, he was the brother of one of our Texas governors, a lineage that began with Sam Houston.

It seems like every time there is a movie on that was made during her active career, she is listed in the credits. It would probably be easier to list the movies she didn't work on  !

Has it really been 13 years since Jordan passed away? He played so many characters in movies and TV. He played a villain in "Valdez is Coming," played a Sandman in "Logan's Run," for Dirk Pitt fans he played that character in "Raise the Titanic" (admittedly not the greatest of flicks), came on late as an associate in TV's "The Equalizer" and played a politician in "The Hunt for Red October." He died much too young!

Claude Aikins was one of those actors whose bad guy roles you loved to hate. He had his share of good guy roles, but the neferious characters he played usually were more memorable.
I remember him in the TV series, "The Misadventures of Sheriff Lobo," so he was good at comedy as well.

I was not a Dennis Hopper fan during his early career, but his pulling his life back up from from the ashes of desolation and suffering has caused me to have a lot of respect for this fellow. He is a multitalented individual. I'm sorry that his TV series, "E-Ring," has, for all intents and purposes, has been cancelled.
BTW - Hopper was a dyed-in-the-wool liberal Democrat in his youth <_< . He is now a registered REPUBLICAN  .

    Hi Arthur -
I remember Luther Adler vividly in a three-part "Hawaii 5-0" episode as the head of the (ficticious) Vashon crime family. Though this was one of his later roles, he still had a mesmerizing demeanor that added greatly to the story.

I had wondered what had happened to her. Evidently, her role as the stewardess in "The High and the Mighty" was her main claim to fame in the movies.

I could be mistaken, but wasn't he the one that did the wine commercials and ended with "... That little old winemaker - Me!"

Ken Tobey was one of my favorite character actors. He had one leading part in Hawk's "The Thing (from Another World)." I thought he was rather good in that.

Lee Van Cleef was one of my favorite "bad" guys. Toward the end of his career, he was able to get better rounded roles and was able to show off his acting chops to a better degree. He died in '89, so it has been 16 years since he passed away.

    Hi Arthur -
Leo Gordon was a character actor you loved to hate. He appeared in so many TV programs in the '50s, '60s and into the '70s, you could see him on the tube almost every week. He was still going strong when he appeared on several episodes of "Adam 12" and apparently was a favorite of Jack Webb's.
As you say, he was also a writer. He wrote episodes for various TV programs, and even directed some. He wore several hats when involved with the movie "Tobruk." He not only played the part of a sergeant, but also wrote the script for the film. One of his last appearances was in the remake of "Maverick" as one of the gamblers on the riverboat.

Boy, the board really got active over the weekend. Not the least of events is your anniversary here, Arthur. Congratulations - your "On This Day" always provides nuggets of information that, I'm sure, you must take some time to correlate before posting. This is just to let you know that I enjoy reading them as I think many of the members do also.

Sir Michael was one of my favorite British actors, from his portrayal of Jacob Marley in "Scrooge" through so many character parts in movies over the years to a delightful comedic turn in "The Slipper and the Rose," I found his portrayals to often catch my eye.

"Magnificent Showman" was also known as "Circus World," not to cause any confusion. It wasn't one of the Duke's better efforts, but still worth a look.

He usually played baddies in a lot of westerns, but he was most noteable in the recurring role of Sam, the bartender, in the TV series "Gunsmoke."
