    Amen ChiliBill,

At the end of our four day class, all four ranges, 160 pistol shooters, total, were tested to find the best shooter. Then that pistol shooter was put up the best shotgun shooter (out of 40 students). .....The Shotgunner won!

I asked one of the instructors if that was the usual results, and they indicated "about 80% of the time"

I too, believe the 12 gauge is the way to go!

    Howdy, y'all!

I was gone for about 5 days in the past week, having attended a four day defensive handgun class at the Front Sight Firearms Training facility in Pahrump, Nevada. About three hundred people were attending at the same time, with 40 people per range. Four of the classes were defensive handgun and they also had tactical shotgun and tactical rifle classes going on at the same time.

Everyone in our class was using an automatic, in either 9mm, 40mm or .45 caliber, except for one gentleman with a .45 Colt single action. There has always been debate between wheel guns and automatics. Personally, I have never been involved in this debate because both styles of guns have their merits as well as negative points. After watching the gentleman with the .45 single action try to keep up with 38 folks with automatics, it was obvious to me that someone looking for fast reliable defense against multiple opponents would really need an automatic over a single action.

Here's a link to the site - Front Sight - where they have training in pisttols, rifles, shotguns, and various machine guns, as well as martial arts training and other training courses as well. One thing they impress upon you when you get there is how most people aren't as well trained as they might think when it comes to firearms, and that with proper training and practice one can become quite proficient.
