Posts from Bek in thread „How's The Weather“

Cold here, gets to below zero here at night, went to check some steers in the cattle yards this morning and had to scrape ice off the top of the water troughs.

Ended up getting 67mm(around 2 & 1/2 inches) from that rain last night, and it's been on and off all day today.Been quite cold though, between 8-15C all day.

    Rained today.
We had to draft cattle aswell today, and it just was not fun, the horses were always slipping, and the cattle were stirred up aswell. And today was absolutely the only day we could do it, bad day all round here.

Rockhampton, a bit north of us was flooded for the second time in month, the Fitzroy River peaked at 8.1m.

Yep, a cattle station, about 40km east from Charters on the Flinders Highway :)

Warm today, been 30-35C all day...I hate Queensland weather.

sorry to hear that you cant get to were you where to go bek. hope you get the opportunity to do it later in the year. have had rain off and on all day maily short showers. they say that by the weekend it will be warm again in the mid to high 30C.

glad to hear that you are ok hondo you must be living right for it to have missed you

    cheers smokey

Thanks smokey, I will get to do it later on, they've scheduled for April. We were supposed to go to Charters Towers, up there near Townsville, sorta glad I'm not though, because it's monsoon season up there.

Today was fairly mild, although it did get quite hot from about 4-5pm.

    It's trying to rain here.

Looks like the floods have got the better of us, I was supposed to go up north and work for a week or so, but can't get there because of the flooding both on the coast and inland.

Glad to hear you're alright Mike.

Mild day today. Hoping for some rain tomorrow or Wednesday.
More flooding expected up north, which isn't to good seeing I'm headed up there Wednesday.

Please refresh my memory, Smokey - hasn't most of Australia been in the grip of a bad drought for awhile? Sounds like the drought is over.

Nowhere near over as yet Stumpy, while most of our state has been getting good rain, we still need to get good follow up winter rains, or all this doesn't really help.

While it's good, we're really the only state that's getting it, and there's still our little south east corner where smokey and I are, which we're far from over it.

Raining again today, I would be happy, but I'm supposed to go somewhere next week, and it's going to be hard with all the flooding that's happening up north.

We had a sunshower here today. No decent rain though.

Two of our dams are joined now, and we've got a little creek out the front as well.

I'm hoping this will keep going through winter, it's the best season we've had for umpteen years, so there's light at the end of the tunnel in regard to the drought.

It's been raining pretty much all day today.
Got about an inch and a half this morning. Another inch this afternoon, and it's still coming down.

My cattle yards are flooded, all the tanks are full as well as the dams. Don't know where it's all going to go soon.

Rained this afternoon, got a really heavy shower that lasted for around an hour or so, and drizzle on and off. Was pushing 35-40C here today, now down around 22-23C.

It feels longer though, we've been feeling it ever since the 1996 floods hit the Lockyer Valley, although now that we've moved up to the South Burnett, we've been getting much more rain. back to my point. We've only been drought declared for 5 years, but it has really been 10 years, plus. 1999-2000 we didn't have rain for something like 390 days.

I feel though, if any this will be the year that the drought breaks :)
