    wtrayah,

I think one reason he is "the bad man" is because in the Quaker community, any kind of violence is considered wrong. Duke's character was a known gun-slinger - he is the last guy those parents would want their daughter falling in love with. And of course, he did hang out with the "wrong" crowd, too.

Maybe You Might want to move my Post Over Here?

Actually, I copied it over to here, since it was also appropriate to post it in the "Last Western You Watched" thread! Because you posted it earlier this morning, it appears above, in time order .

Thanks, Bill, for letting us know a little more about it. The previews looked kind of "flashy" like there were some special effects. What was the building on fire that was in the preview? Obviously, that wasn't in the original.

Well, we don't have cable, and it turns out our good friends, who DO have cable, don't have the Hallmark channel . . . :cry2:.

So we will be watching the original tonight, but we sure are looking forward to hearing what folks have to say about the Hallmark remake.

Chester :newyear: and the Mrs. :angel1:

Pretty neat article from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Another Wayne defers to Duke, about Brendan Wayne. Among other things, the article gives a little peek into the life of John Wayne as a grandfather, something we rarely hear about.

The movie [remake of Angel and the Badman, with Brendan in the cast] is scheduled to premiere on the Hallmark Channel on Sunday, July 5. Sheer curiosity, along with the fact that Duke's grandson is in the movie, would possibly move me to watch it. This is one time I wish we had cable TV.

IMDb indicates that the film is now completed (last updated 5/16/09).

It is kind of interesting that Brendan Wayne appears in it. IMDb lists Lou Diamond Phillip's character as Quart Evens! I don't know if they misspelled it, or did that on purpose (I can only hope that was a mistake!).

I wonder if young Mr. Wayne ever saw his grandfather's movie (I'm guessing he has, and is aware).

Can anybody tell if this is slated to be in theaters, or on TV?

    Mrs. C :angel1:

How did you even find out about it, Lt.?

Did you notice the spellings of the names - QUART Evens??? The girl is named Temperance??? I see they retain some of the other character names - Hondo and Laredo - but there doesn't seem to be any sight of the girl's parents in the cast list.

This film was probably one of the first ones I owned, as it was in the "cheap" bin at the local KMart. But thank goodness for those cheap bins, as that's how I came to appreciate John Wayne, and get more interested in his films. Now it doesn't have to be cheap for me to buy it !

Anyway, back to sharing movie posters, which is what got me to this thread this morning - the only pic I have is of a 1959 re-issue poster -

    Mike,

I know I own several copies myself, but haven't watched it in so long I really don't remember too much about the quality. It seems like one of those titles that is extremely available, almost like a public domain title. Someone else may have a better idea, and a better answer to your question.
