Posts from chester7777 in thread „It's Halloween“

In the spirit of the season . . . I thought you'd get a chuckle out of this -

Thanks, gt, for bringing back this seasonal thread!

I think the Mrs. and the kids are going to a friend's house for dinner and trick-or-treating. I may go with them, or just stay at home in the quiet house . . . I haven't decided yet.

I thought I'd revive this thread (and merge it with Robbie's recent one), to keep all the Halloween posts together. At the same time, just for the heck of it, I read this thread from the beginning, and it was pretty fun reading (also figured I'd revive the pumpkin carving post (in the first quote above)).

And . . . here's a 'new' pic for this year (although I'm sure you've all seen it before -

Finally - the Mrs. informs me we have received an invitation similar to last year, to go to a friend's house for potluck dinner and costume party. Wonder what I'll be???

    Elly,

If you read it from the beginning, it does make sense and have a logical progression . . . but I have to confess to wondering how it happened myself :headbonk:.

Y'all better be careful the next time you're in one at Halloween. Some trick-or-treaters may tip it over 'cause you didn't give them a treat.

Those of us with even a modicum of wisdom know that on Halloween, you DON'T use an outhouse on that night  . . . no matter how badly you need to!

I'm ensuring that my grandkids are familiar with the heroes of WW2 by providing all of them with copies of "The Longest Day", "Battle of Britain" and other [fairly] accurate films dealing with the subject. And I'm drilling into their thick little skulls the huge debt we owe to "The Greatest Generation" for preserving our freedoms and way of life.

    AMEN, Stumpy, amen!

Those lessons will become more and more important in the years to come!

Oh, I forgot, baby boomers have no idea what an outhouse is. :whatchutalkingabout:blink::headbonk::laugh::laugh::laugh:

I may not have used one every day, but I have ever used one.

Hey, even our kids know what an outhouse is. When our son (now 20) was about 3 years old, we went camping for about a week, and there were only outhouses where we camped. He was quite willing to stand in front of that hole in a board, but there was no way he was going to park his behind over that hole that seemed to go down forever. He did no 'sitting work' the whole time we were there, and held out for a real toilet where he could see bottom.

I'll be home, scaring the kiddies with my big, ugly incision :omg2:! (Thanks, dukefan1, for that suggestion  heh, heh, heh). But after that, I've got to take it easy so I can regain my strength for Thanksgiving :jump: . Actually, we live in an area that doesn't really get very many trick-or-treaters, so I'll have a pretty quiet evening.

The Mrs. might take the kids to a local church event called Trunk-or-Treat. A bunch of folks decorate their cars, and give the kids treats from the trunk of the car. The kids get the desired candy in a relatively safe environment, in a relatively short period of time (that makes the Mrs. happy).
