Posts from ethanedwards in thread „Duke's Movie Discussions“

I have a really terrible copy of Flashing Spikes but Duke only did a cameo as the umpire of an Army baseball game in Korea. Jimmy Stewart played the older baseball player with Pat Wayne as the rising star.

Ah, thanks for this, I saw Duke was in Korea,
but wasn't sure if he played or not!

Haven't watched it in a while but I'm pretty sure there are scenes at the beginning of Men are Like That (In Old Arizona) where he was a football player prior to being commissioned in the Army

Bajac, I think you are correct.
I haven't seen it for a long time either,
but the opening line of the Plot Summary says this

    Quote

West Point football star Bob Denton is a protege of Colonel Holmes,

    Please see.
    Men Are Like That (1931)

Also I have not seen this one, but wasn't Duke
an old disgraced baseball player in

    TV-"Alcoa Premiere"-Flashing Spikes (1962)

Thanks Arthur for giving us the previous info.

I have finally completed updating and editing
all of the 160+ Duke's Movie Reviews.

They are now all re-formatted and all have the same layout,
i.e. all information sections running in the same order.
Plot Summary, Full Cast, Writing Credits, Produced, Original Music etc.

Any member, being interested in say Filming Locations
will find it in the same place on each review.

Where there is a section missing, e.g Triva,
that means there is no information available

Hope you enjoy the new updates, and thanks for your support

Duje? Whom is this Duje you speak of? But seriously great work, and thank your for all the time you have put into the board.

Jim, the number of times I have done that, is sad,
the keys are next to one another,
and I am forever going back and changing it.

Mind you after updating over 160 movie reviews so far,
    what can you expect??
    Thanks for pointing it out

I am currently wading through all of the movie reviews and updating them!
It has been 4 to 5 years ago, when I started posting them,
and feel it time, with new information available, to bring the profiles into line.
It will include Cast/ Trivia/ Goofs/Filming Locations and Memorable Quotes.
I have already completed War Movies, and Duke's latter westerns.

IMDb has changed the look of their database and have done the same!

At the same time I have taken Duke's Movie Locations- The Studios,
and split it into the various studios,
as each one has an important part to play in Duke's career.
I felt this was lost, with them all grouped together.
It has also given the opportunity to dedicate Batjac it's own thread.

    Thanks for your support

Previous to compiling the Movie Review section,
new threads on the same films, were commenced, in some cases,
almost every day, which led to fragmentation.
Some movies for example, in various bit and pieces of threads,
ended up with a dozen or so threads, sometimes asking the same questions!
I notced The High And The Mighty, and The Alamo,
both had a dozen or more threads, all about those films!

I have now gone back to the beggining of time so to speak,
and merged all the various threads into one 'super' thread, for each movie,
and now linked that thread into the opening page
    of the dedicated Movie review.

Hopefully this will tidy things up and eliminate
the need to search for previous earlier threads.

    Hi Everyone,

Now that the new Forum is up and running,
    please take a look at
    the re-edited and updated,

    Duke's Movie Reviews,
    Duke's Movie Locations
    Pals of the Saddles
    Maureen's Movie Reviews.

I am sure you will enjoy the greater range of visual,
effects, now made available, by this great new format!

    Hi,

I have gone back through all the movies,
and in most films have been able to enter
    the Filming locations.

    They make interesting reading,
    and remarkable how many films
were made in so few locations.

The main locations are listed in the
Movie Forum, and with some of the major movies,
    I have highlighted the locations,
    as a separate post.

Hopefully this will go a long way,
    to answering questions, about
    certain locations

    Hi,

    OK,

    Now that Duke's Movie Discussions,
is now placed on the Board Index,
If any member has any Duke movie questions, please ask,
open a topic, and away we go!

Any new topics, and questions, regarding Movies
    can be started here.
When the questions have been answered
the threads can later be moved into the dedicated Movie thread.
I think this is the only way,
we can keep new questions to the top,
and at the same time, maintain, the continuity.
