Nope just a lucky guess...
you can't break it more than it already is...
You wanna bet Eric, it used to still burn CD's,
now it doesn't do that anymore.
It's an Atapi CD Drive and it's only 6 months old,
do you think it's expired? -
Hi Todd and Eric,
OK,
using Windows XP
and have Service Pack 3 installed. It does indeed show
Error Code C00D1197
but when I check that out,
it appears more concerned with network soloutions,
and doesn't resolve the problem,
as to why it won't play or rip an audio CD!It burns OK!
-
Hi Todd,
did as you suggested,
re-booted, put in CD,
exactly the same error message!! -
Hi Todd,
The CD burns OK and looks Ok playing back videos,
and uploading software etc.
In window explorer, it shows all the audio tracks.I
-
Thanks Sue, been doing that all the time,
but it's a little more than that I think? -
Hi gang,
My Windows Media Player, has decided to freak out.
It will not me play any audio CD!
I have re-instlled WMP 11,
and cleaned up the library,
but when I insert a CD to play or burn it shows this error message,
Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.Anyone have any idea, how to resolve this?

It used to be simple at one time,
they only had one channel,
they were about 12" screen or less,
and they were all black and white pictures.!!and they looked kinda like this
Thanks Todd, for getting us all up to
speed on this mind boggling technology! -
Todd, I agree,
I recently purchased another PC,
and had Vista taken off, and XP installed.
MY PC Whiz kid says the same,
the system requirements of Vista,
are so much more. -
I have put back on Spybot and Adaware, and also have used Defender,
and found then satisfactory. However beware, of 'pay' ones.
I installed Norton 360 onto one PC, and it freked out Windows so much,
we had to do a repair/Install, and uninstall Norton,
to get the thing working again. -
Try going here http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and running housecall and see if it finds anything.
Hi Eric,
Tried this program,
it whizzes through, so far
but half way through, checking files and folders,
it seems to freeze, and even though I leave it on,
there seems to lots of activity on the PC,
but the red indicator and timer on the housecall, are frozen,
and it goes no further, and doesn't complete!!Any ideas?

Thanka both Sue and Surfer for that, I've already opened
up a new User Account, and copied stuff across, and relegated the old one.Regarding Emails, thanks Surfer for that info.
I learnt along time ago, to read all mails,
on the servers, site, therfore quarantining any 'bugs.
I only bring into Outlook, the one's I trust!
Hopefully, this sorts them out. -
Question for our panel??
On my PC I have different User Accounts,
however on one of them, the dreaded Blue Screen,
appears on every start-up, and on some tasks. The other user accounts, have no problems at all??
HELP!
-
Hi Sue,
No offence taken, however here in the South West of the UK,
we do seem to lag behind in technology!!
There must be regions in the States, that are similar? -
Jim,
Don't worry, we've only just got Colour TV here!!! Ha Ha

Just in case everyone has not noticed this,
Firefox 2 is now available for free download
-
Thank Eric,
You re-assure me, I use the same combo!!
-
We almost all think alike,
I use1. Firefox,
2. eTrust EZ Anti Virus
3. Spyware Blaster
4. Windows Defender
5. Ad Adware SE Personal
6. SpybotBetween them ,everything seems to get ZAPPED!!

Hi Todd,
Ironically I'm going down the same road,
I still have my Hi8 camcorder, and
also are transferring the family videos.
However, I'm recording them from Hi8
direct to DVD recorder, painfully
slow as with any tape transfers! -
Sounds good Todd,
Hope you are having fun with the new set up!
