Posts from ethanedwards in thread „PC and Technical Help Forum“

Just to mention to our members new and old,
that this thread is where our members, can maybe help one another,
solve any PC or technical problems.

Just ask a question, as we have many knowledgeable
and may I say helpful members

I've got more bookcases now than I have room to place them. I've been a voracious reader all my life and despite giving probably a couple of hundred books and videos to various libraries, I still have many hundreds more.

    Jim,

Can you not print them yourself?
It's easier and cheaper then buying ready made

    Jim,

Are they the CD style cases?
    known as single jewell cases.
I print all my own CD inlays,
using Publisher, which as a CD case template.
Just use 160g or less graphic card and print your own.
You can always lift the movie image off the 'net and paste it on,
    and add some text.

    Bill,
I have moved your post to this the technical area.

This post by SXViper answers your question

Here is a link to Hondo's thread where this is also mentioned.

    HD DVD and Blu Ray

    Great article Jim.
What worries me with the demise of VHS,is the cost to us guys.
I hate to think, with Blu-Ray coming in,
we've got to go through it all again!
In fact the smart move would be to not replace all the VHS movies, we have,
and just skip the DVD era altogether!

EE, will media player read the cd? Other players like Winamp and all work right? I didn't get all the back ground so just trying to piece together the puzzle.
I believe you said Nero works.

Are you editing both registries? Reg and reg32?

    Hi Jeff,

Yes, Explore will read, Winamp and Nero will play,
but WMP shows the error message.
I think I've cleaned everything in sight!!

    Thanks Jim and Jeff.

    It is a registry problem,
and Jeff I checked out that link.

It does indeed show the error message:-

Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn,
or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that
has been moved, renamed, or deleted.

However it plays the files, in the library OK,
and WMP is the default player.

It shows this message, when I try to play a disc.
It was OK not long ago!

    Thanks for your post Todd.
    My man next door,(the expert)
has also pointed his finger at the Registry.
I'm fortunate, in that I may not have to go
to a shop, and he will solve it.
We will see, and I'll keep you posted.

    Hi Eric and Todd,
    Just to let you know.
The DVD/CD writer had expired,I have repalced it,
    but it hasn't solved the
    Windows Media problem.

OK, here it is up to date.
I can record Cd's etc, through Nero etc.
but WMP will not let me play Cd's.
still stating that same error message.

Windows Media Player cannot find the file. If you are trying to play, burn, or sync an item that is in your library, the item might point to a file that has been moved, renamed, or deleted.

    although Explorer can see them,
and I can play them through other software.

    I have re-installed WMP 11 twice,
    any ideas my friends?
