I totally agree with you Robbie. I blame the media for most of this mess, and who wants to go through the ringer from them. The great ones stay away, and it has created major problems. If we don't get better control of the media, they will rule the world. I don't have a problem with Freedom of the Press, but they must show some responsibility too.

They don't! And until something is done, they will continue to shape the world the way they want to shape it, and I fear dome in ways that you can't imagine.

    Cheers  Hondo

This is why good people don't run for office!

I hope the public doesn't fall for Rick Perry's brand of bull! He is charismatic, but what he says is simply false. Since he became governor of Texas, he hasn't been responsible for much of his claims as to what he has done for this state. I think Bill White would have been a much better governor despite his Democratic affiliation.
This is not because I knew his late brother, concert pianist and composer Robert Avalon.

Same here in Texas, Gorch! We just had a former attorney general found guilty of neferious practices involving bribes, etc. Our Republican governor, Rick Perry, made voters believe he was the best thing since sliced bread. After he was re-elected for a fourth term, his allegations that the state was in great shape turned out to be less than factual. So it is a malise that affects both Republicans and Dummycrats (pace Jim).

Finally, this country needs to outlaw unions, period.

Jim - I'm with you on this. Unions may have had their place at the beginning of the 20th century. But now they do little except fill the pockets of their administrators! Otherwise they are obsolete.
Now in today's modern climate, the usefulness of unions has gone the way of the dinosaur.

Unfortunately, according to a news item in today's paper, the GOP is hard-pressed to find anyone even remotely close to Reagan's character.

Has anyone noticed that when Obama gives a public speech:gah: :vomit:, whether it be news conference or any select group, he puts a positive spin on anything that happens, just to make himself look good to his constituents.
These past few weeks, with congress trying to pass an elephant through the eye of a needle, anything halfway decent that happens, Obama is taking credit; if there is any negativity to events, he strives to make sure everyone knows he wasn't responsible, that he tried superhumanly to make things go in the positive column, but no one would follow his lead (if he even remotely qualifies for the description of leader)!:fear2:

Does that include me? I'm a (in tiny voice) a liberal. (Am I the only one on this board?)

No, Paula - Sorry, that was an all-encompassing statement. I was trying to specifically target the idiots that were chastising Ernest Borgnine for his statement! Certainly, even they are entitled to an opinion, even as wrongheaded as their expression was!

Seems like there is a massive groundswell of discontent. It might be very interesting to see, if the mood upholds in the next elections, what a very different makeup our Congress will present!

All of these attitudes upset me, but especially the apologetic stance Obama has taken. The U.S. has nothing to apologize for to any country. The opposite is true - many of these countries owe us an apology for their adolescent pouting in our direction!

Another so-called Republican heard from. I say so-called because as far as I'm concerned, no self-respecting Republican would work for the New York Times.
People like Brooks never tire of criticizing the trait of individualism, prized by conservatives. They're always urging us toward collectivism, (or, in Brook's words, "community-mindedness") which the liberals love.

What loco weed has this guy Brooks been eating?

I am sure Dvorak didn't intend for his "Carnival Overture" to be used in this context!!!:headbonk: (Remember folks, this is my area of expertise.)

I'm with Chester on this. Obama wasn't my choice, but he is slated to be our President. Though I am not happy with many of his policies, my prayers go out to him also.

Have you ever heard of the "veto pen", Mike?

But the Democrats couldn't get enough votes to override a veto. If they were so intent on passing a bill, they would have achieved the two-thirds majority. I'm not an apologist for Bush, but there are a lot of places to put the blame (our economic problems started back during the Clinton administration).

I read a sub-paragraph title in a news article yesterday that said "the 2012 campaign begins Wednesday". I'm sure it was written with tongue at least halfway in cheek but I still almost puked.

    Say it ain't so, Jim!:cry2::uhoh::sad_smile::headbonk::baaa::
