Posts from chester7777 in thread „Any baseball fans out there?“

I guess it must be time to dust off this thread, right?

I confess I don't spend much time watching professional baseball (though I do enjoy it, just don't have much opportunity).

But for us, Little League baseball has started. Our son is in the Majors division this year, and has had two games so far, both of which his team won. So far, so good!

What are y'all watching these days? Major League Baseball's opening day is April 6th.

Too bad the Rockies weren't able to maintain their pre-Series winning streak, at least a little, to give us a more competitive Series. I wonder what happened to them? Even with the home-field advantage, they just couldn't pull it off.

I understand that Carl wanted to ask about Harry Carey, so started a separate thread, but now that the answer has been given, I thought it appropriate to merge the two baseball-related threads. I hope you guys don't mind.

First game of a double header, huh? OUCH!

Well, at least the second game was relatively close, not SO painful.

Not having listened to the sports report yet this morning on the radio, I was still thinking about that game and wondering about errors. NO errors - well, that's a good thing, at least. I was picturing some Little League games I've watched, where the score would have been similar but for that 4-run-per-inning "mercy" rule. Otherwise, due to errors all over the place (after all, they ARE kids), the game would never end. So I am real glad to hear that at least the runs last night were earned, and that the fielding was the best it could have been.

But what a game - those home runs accounted for almost half the score!

I think that, even for the team that is winning, such a lopsided score makes for not as much fun. It's like "what's the point?" No where near the same satisfaction factor, IMHO.

    Cyber hugs to you, Mark!

I cannot get enough of it.......... I am actually sitting here tonight listening to the Cardinals vs Mets game on MLB gameday audio on my PC. I love the stats and the little things that go on throughout the game between the players/teams. To me there is no better thing in sports then a baseball game, no matter who is playing. It might even explain me liking Costner so much!!!!

Mrs. C :angel1: here - I enjoy baseball quite a bit. I'm not insane about it, I don't know many stats or anything, but I listen to the sports reports and know enough to be able to make intelligent conversation about it with those who are the real fans.

Since my son started playing Little League three years ago, I started keeping score for his team, and have continued doing that. Wow, you see the game a whole different way!

Yeah the last time they where in the series against each other we had the Loma Prieta earthquake.

erthomp, we sure remember that day all too well!! I didn't have a radio in the car, and I was driving home looking to turning on the TV and listening to the Series on the radio when . . . wobble, wobble, wobble . . . I thought I had a flat tire. It took me two hours to get from Los Gatos to Scotts Valley on Hwy. 17!

Not big fans (of any sport, actually), although we have enjoyed watching our son play in Little League. Last year, we watched the local farm team play, and that was really enjoyable - the big league feel of good baseball, without the huge price. If either of the "local" teams (SF Giants and Oakland As)are in the World Series, we have a slightly heightened interest).
