Posts from SXViper in thread „New Movie Discussion“

My daughter sent home a western movie she had. It's called American Outlaws. it's about Jessie James and Cole Younger. Some of the cast members are Colin Farrell, Scott Caan, and Ali Larter. I usually don't care for the new westerns like I do the older ones, but I have to say this movie is very good. There's no F..bombs as someone put it and no sex scenes. It has comedy also. A very good movie. I'm real glad I took the time to watch it.

    Dixie

Thanks Dixie, I have seen this movie many times at the video store or for sale but have never heard anyone review it. I guess when its slow this winter I can pick it up and give it a try.

watched leather heads and liked it. not deep but without sex profanity or gore they managed to produce what I call light entertainment. worth the rental cost in my book.

Thanks for the info Kilo 6. My wife and I were debating on that or Rendition. We ended up with Rendition. That was ok, my wife likes those types of movies, political thrillers, ect....

Well, I rented the latest Indiana Jones movie today and I wasn't impressed at all. In fact, I thought it was silly as heck.

I went to the theater to watch it. I liked it but not enough to go buy it. I have been contemplating if I should buy it, but after pondering it, why?? It was fun to watch but not memorable. I would be better off buying a classic that I KNOW I will watch over and over again.

Hopefully if western's start getting made more frequently again they will not CGI them up so they are hokey. I can deal with CGI in a comic book/fantasy movie but if they have to CGI a western, I think something get's lost. Especially when they made western's for so many years with out CGI.

I'll second that motion. I think this may be the first Western for Ed Harris. I've liked him in most of his movies.

    I think you are correct.

I also like Viggo, so I am really looking forward to this one!!

I think with last years remake of 3:10 to Yuma and now with this one that Hollywierd might be loosening up alittle and going back to the western. Hopefully this starts a long line of western's.

Well, I have seen "The Dark Knight". The first thing that hit's you with this movie is how dark it is. Not the lighting but the mood and atmosphere. Heath Ledger is simply awesome in the movie, he is funny, disturbing, scary, hilarious, freaky, and goofy all at once. This movie is not for the kids in your house, unless they happen to be teens. Everyone does a great job and it really sets the tone for the ending of the film by all the things that happen during the movie. I don't want to give to much way but I will say this, Batman is never hokey like the previous films or TV series. I leaned over to my wife at one point and said to her, "If it wasn't for the mask, this could easily pass for a Bond type film". Bale brings a real personal touch to the Batman and you can fell the torment of feelings that he is having. And its not hokey, like I said before. Well thought out and a really good crime drama. I highly recommend this movie. My wife liked it and she is not a huge fan of comic book hero movies but she love's Bond and the new Bond and liked this movie as much as I did, maybe even alittle more. Go see it!!!!!

I have heard that the Batman comic thing is not even a issue, it is just a great crime drama and isn't brought down by comic book "goofiness". I really liked the first one, Batman Begins. That was a very good movie and quite scary at times during the hallucination scenes. I will definetly let you guys know what I think after Tuesday night.

Thanks Gt, after the reviews I was thinking of waiting for the DVD release.

My wife and I are headed for "The Dark Knight" on Tuesday night. Its my birthday and I wanted to see it!!! I will report back what its like. I am expecting great things after all the hype.

Hey Todd, the expression "sack time" to me has always meant "to sack out", i.e., sleep.

What does "sack time" mean to you, huuuuuuuh?:teeth_smile::teeth_smile:

My guess is as a person get's older the definition changes alittle!!

Imo, he looked much more than credible, Keith. Far as I'm concerned, he was the most believable 007 yet. Let's face it, trained assassins are supposed to look and act like assassins, meaning they're supposed to be extremely ruthless and without mercy toward their opponents. Dan was exactly that. Much more so than the others, with the possible exception of Dalton. The others, even inluding Connery, have always acted like they're more interested in bedding the ladies than eliminating their enemies.

Come on Stumpy, nothing wrong with a little sack time!!!!

You may not want to talk about this, Todd, and if you don't, I understand and won't press the issue. But I was wondering, did your wife's cousin live out in a semi-rural area like you do? If so, I guess that just goes to show that we're not safe anywhere anymore because murders are an unusual event out in the boonies. Or at least I thought they were.

Well she was actually killed in a town that has roughly 110,000 people in it. But the surrounding area is rural. My wife and I both work there but we live in a town of 3500 people about 20 minutes away. It is a sad thing when somethign like this happens. I guess its in what they call a "cold case" now that it has been so long since it happened.

Has anyone seen this movie? It's getting good reviews from people who've seen it but I'm not sure I can get my mind around the idea of you know who playing a serial killer.

The reason I was wondering is that I saw it was just released this week.

My wife and I have seen it. We are big Costner fans as most here know. But we were not to impressed by it. Not because of the performances, we are just not the serial killer movie type of people. Very disturbing at times and it hits alittle to close to home being that my wife's cousin was murdered last April and we have yet to find out anything on the case.

I saw No Country for Old Men which is winning just about every critics poll for Best Picture. I don't see why. Javier Bardem is trying to recover 2 million dollars in drug money and shoots everyone that doesn't have it. They say its a mortality play about good and evil but I don't see it. I usually like the Coen Brothers but I don't see a point to this. Bardem is winning all the supporting acting awards. He's good but he's the lead in this film. At the end of the movie he has a bone sticking out of his arm. It wasn't a pleasant two hours.

Thanks for the review, usually when the critics like a film that much it is not that good. I will not waste the money to see this one in the theater.

On a second note. My wife and I went to see the new National Treasure movie tonight. If you liked the 1st one you will enjoy the second one. Lots of the same stuff.

    Hello Mrs. C

My wife took the kids to Enchanted last weekend while I was hunting. She said it was very good. And we also would like to see the 2nd National Treasure movie.

But I wanted to give you this information concerning the new movie "The Golden Compass". I am not trying to start a war with anyone, your religious beliefs are yours and yours alone but everyone should have the facts so I just wanted you to be aware of the anti-religious themes in the books and quite possibly the movie.
