What a game! It is great to be an Auburn Tiger! War Eagle! Very confusing with titles, but there is a story to all of this. I will post those stories to you about our titles. AUBURN TIGERS get it done with a 22-19 score. Could have scored another score, but a win is a win. WAR EAGLE!

Less than 24 hours before we see the National Championship Game. I am of course bias with my Auburn Tigers, but what do you see winning this game. I didn't follow the Ducks too much, and in my state and the SEC they will talk about the Auburn (both positive and negative {due to mainly Alabama}), so what are your predictions on this game?
Cheers Hondo
P.S. WAR EAGLE!!! -
This is absolutely and totally ridiculous. I remember 30 or 40 years ago, only 8 or 10 teams made it to post-season bowl games and now it seems like practically every team in the country plays in a bowl game. BTW, Mike, congratulations on your Tiger's great season.
I tend to agree with you Stumpy on this too. There are 35 bowl games, which makes 70 teams playing. That is over 60% of the college teams playing in post-season. What I think this is also ridiculous. The National Championship is being played on January 10th. They will take a 37 day break from playing. I think that is way too long.
Thanks Stumpy for the congrats on the Tigers. It was totally unexpected but I am pleased.

What can I say but, WAR EAGLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Auburn Tigers are 13-0 and playing for the national championship in January against the Oregon Ducks. This will be a shoot out and I look forward to it very much.

WAR EAGLE!! -
What can I say! If you follow college football, then you may be aware of the Auburn Tigers. Well they pulled it off yesterday against Arkansas with the score of 65-43. Not it is not a typo, that was the final score and that makes the tigers 7-0. All I can say is WAR CAM EAGLE! If you don't understand it, then you don't follow college football too close.

The Super Bowl is set. It was a great weekend for football. That Saints and Vikings game is a classic. Sorry about the Vikings, they should have won it, but we'll be seeing the Colts and the Saints. I guess it is what it's suppose to be. The two best records in the NFL playing for the Championship. Like I said, I think we saw the Super Bowl tonight with the Saints and the Vikings. Now for the next two weeks we talk on who's the best.
See you in Miami, dudes!

I'd kinda like to see the Saints and Colts play, but I also like to see the Vikings play. As a matter of fact I'd really like to see the Saints and Vikings play in the Super Bowl, but that's impossible. So I guess my Super Bowl is this weekend. You figure!

Looks like USC got a new coach already. They stole Lane Kiffin from Tennessee. This is very bad timing since the signing day is a couple of weeks away, and UT doesn't have a new coach yet, and the recruits have no idea who's going where in the coaching roulette. To be continued!

Now that second game between the Cardinals winning in overtime over the Packers. That was a comeback of all comebacks only to see the Packers fall short in overtime. That was some game. Well Dallas and the New York Jets are moving on to next weeks games. Kinda dull today.
Dallas will play at the Vickings on Sunday at 1 pm est.
The Jets will play at Colts if the Ravens lose or they will be at Chargers if the Ravens win.

What a bowl tonight. The GMAC Bowl was one of the better bowls this week. Central Michigan took it in double over time against Troy, 44-41. This one by far was one of the best games in this years bowls.
Tomorrow night is the championship game. I thinking it's Texas and hoping as well. It's hard enough living with these people during football season, but they will take it 365 days, and they already announced their championship for 2010. They do that.
Hook 'em horns!

Jim,
I checked into this and came up with a lot of interesting facts about the college bowl games played over the years. I found the research pretty interesting, and too much to list below, though you might find this a lot, it's only a small portion to a very crowded field over the years.
Here is a list of 33 bowls being played this year (not including the BCS championship game). It is the most bowls played ever in a single season. It does not include the all star games either.
Forty years ago, there were 15 bowl games on the schedule. 6 are now defunct bowls while nine were played then are played now today.
Listing of the current bowls played and their starting date (in the year only).
1900-1970
Rose Bowl - 1902, 1916
Orange Bowl - 1935
Sugar Bowl - 1935
Sun Bowl - 1936
Cotton Bowl - 1937

St. Petersburg Bowl - 2008
EagleBank Bowl - 2008
Two bowls are scheduled to begin at the end of the 2010 football season. The Yankee Bowl, played at Yankee Stadium; and the Dallas Football Classic, played at Cotton Bowl Stadium. Note that change in name may take place due to sponsorship.
There are a lot, no doubt, and I think a lot has been taken away from the game from this, but it is a way to see more football action and a fantastic possibility of seeing your team play. According to my research, back over 50 years ago, there was a possibility you could be rank in the top 20 and not play in a bowl game, but accordingly, the season was over in November, and the National Champion was announced and the bowl games were merely a reward or fun time to go out and play a game for the season you had.
It's did show a few times that the number 1 team didn't go to a bowl. Very interesting. I knew that already about the champion was determined from the regular season.

New Year's Day, Football, what more can you say. Starting out the day was the Outback Bowl in Tampa, Florida and my Auburn Tigers played the first football game in 2010. Well four hours later after some excitement. the tigers came out with a victory 38-35 in overtime againt Northwestern. SEC beat the Big Ten. War Eagle!

My biggest complaint is the official's review. It takes away from the game. Even in high school football, no I'm not talking about the officials taking time to review the play to get it right, but when they put the championship game on TV, it was replayed and we saw the officials missing plays. I get caught up in it myself, and I hate it. It takes the human element out of the game. And takes too much time. Sorry but mistakes are a part of the game, so live with it. I'd say that 8 out of 10, the refs are right, but they take so much time reviewing it, and I quickly loose interest in the game. Let us complain, and enjoy the game.

How about those Titans! They lead 24-9 and tied to go into overtime with 24-24 tie, but in overtime Miami got the ball and fumbled, then the Titans scored with a field goal to win 27-24. They are 7-7. Let's see something special.

I could hardly believe that Ingram's Heisman was the first for 'Bama after all the great teams Bear turned out.
Jim, there is a story behind this. During Bear Bryant's day, he kept his players from that award. Back then, coaches had better control of their players and the media, and Bear had that in his back pocket. He wouldn't make it in college football today. None of those coaches would.
Think about it, that team had a lot of great players, and they were never considered for the Heisman. The only player who was in the finals of the award was about 15 years ago. The name escapes me for the moment, but he finished third. Bear put stock in team players and not individuals. -
You might find this odd, but I think I'm pulling for Texas in this game. The fans here are impossible. It reminds me of the '70s when Alabama dominated the decade. I was a Tennessee fan then, and they were so rude. Now I am an Auburn Alumi, I really can't stand them. It isn't the players, coaches or school, it's the red neck fans that make me sick. It doens't get better if they carry a National Championship. They got about everything else. By the way, congratulations Mark Ingram (Alabama) for the Heisman.
It's going to be a rough month, so hook 'em horns!
War Eagle!

We came over to Georgia and played. This is our high school team. We lost 11-14. I'll get the name of the opponent and get back to you. It is north of Atlanta.

High School Football starts this week; college next week; and I think the Sunday during Labor weekend is the NFL. What a great land we live in. I can't wait. By the way, the champion's challenge in Alabama took place last weekend, and my high school played and well they won. Didn't count but they wiped out the other team.
Cheers
