Rough loss for Texas last night. That true freshman QB is going to be something else though.

Might have been a different story if they hadn't thrown the ball away first half and if they could get an honest roughing the passer call from that side judge.

    Ned,

The reason they play 4 quarters rather than 2 halves is twofold. First it spreads out any disadvantage that may come into play due to wind direction as each team will face the prevailing wind every other quarter. Also, especially in the old days but you can still see this on some high school and smaller college fields, it spreads the play out across the field more evenly. This keeps one end of the field from getting too beat up if you have one team that can't seem to move the ball. Also if you have one end of the field that isn't in particularly good shape it can have a negative affect on the team defending that end of the field.

There's also the point that it gives the teams a scheduled breather.

Yes it would be good to see Joe win it all.

The Cowboys were 1 mistake away from beating Texas Saturday. But that said I think Texas has the best QB anyone has seen in a long time and we did better than I thought we would. It's going to be interesting to see how Texas does against Tech.

Well being an Oklahoma Aggie, I learned a long time ago that the one thing you don't do is brag on OSU football. They generally give you many opportunities for humble pie through the season.

I'll just be glad we are where we are and hope for a good rest of the season and leave it at that.

Did anyone see the end of the Rams/Cards game?

I have a personal pet peeve about these coaches calling a quick time out just before the ball is snapped so they can ice the kicker.

I thought it was poetic justice that when the Cardinal coach pulled that on the Rams kicker, whose first kick was blocked if I recall, the resulting second kick made the winning goal.

    Stumpy,

I don't mean to get your dander up but there are still 2 unbeaten teams in Oklahoma; although I thought the Cowboys were, in classic style, going to give it away in the last 1:50 of the game with that stupid run the clock out idea.

Yeah it worked but I don't like to win running backwards.

And GT for what it's worth I was rooting for the Dawgs against Bama. I had hopes the black shirts would make the difference.

    Viper,

My number 2 and 4 sons are also big Packer fans, #2 having played starting offensive line for the last 3 years at his high school and we're all pretty frustrated by what Brett is doing.

To Lucky Ned's question, my #1 son thinks anything outside of rugby is for sissies, although he is a Dallas fan.

Somehow we all manage to live in the same house without killing each other.

Okay guys, I'm a Packer fan from the Lombardi, Starr, Hornung days so I've rooted for these guys when they were on top and in the toilet.

I've got mixed emotions about this whole thing with Favre. I thought he did a class thing in going out the way he did and now it just seems like he's put himself and his wants ahead of the team. Even though he says the mgmt has talked out of both sides of their mouths, at some time, someone needs to get him thinking about what this is doing to his reputation.

As for who else he might play with, it won't be anyone in the Packer's division and I doubt it'll even be anyone with a decent record. The Packers won't let that happen.

In the end, I'm disappointed in the whole lot of them, Favre and the mgmt.

This is what happens when you pay people way too much money to play a game. They lose sight of the realities of life.
