Posts from SXViper in thread „What are you listening to?“

Slash's new album, Airbourne's new album, and Scorpions last album before they retire. all are excellent rock music. Especially the Slash album. He out did himself on that CD.

How is Duff's new cd? I have listened to a few songs on his myspace page but I just can't pull the trigger.

I am currently listening to the new Chickenfoot cd. If you are a fan of older Sammy Hagar you will like this new cd. The band consists of Sammy Hagar, Joe Satriani, Micheal Anthony(ex Van Halen bass guitarist), and Chad Smith( drummer from Red Hot Chili Peppers). Lots of talent and it shows. I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys rock and roll.

I have been on a Keith Urban "kick" lately. I have both his Greatest Hits and his new one Defying Gravity. I have become really selective when it comes to country music lately and cannot stand alot of the newer artists as it seems alittle too much like pop music. But I like him. He is from Australia too Bek, which I a sure you already know.

Now saying all that doesn't mean that I am not listening to my hard rock music either. I am still listening to lots of Metallica and the new Shinedown cd is especially good. I have always liked both genre's of music. Just cannot stand Rap crap!! :vomit:

Hey Viper. Are you slinging that long hair round and round as you play your plastic guitar?

I wish I had the hair!!!! I think I look more cool then I actually am. My famliy humors me!! I just unlocked "Crazy Train" by Ozzy!! Fun song to play on the PG....:hyper:

From what I heard tonight, the new cd will be out by the end of November.

As for me. I'm listening to The Eagles cd The Long Run.

Comes out Nov.23rd. Exclusively at Best Buy. The single has been playing on the radio for about a week now.

I have been playing Guitar Hero World Tour. There are so many great songs on this one. I don't even know where to begin. They even threw in a country song, On the Road again!!! I am a PGG or Plastic Guitar God!!!!

SXviper, you will have to let us know your opinion of Black Ice as i am undecided about that or Chinese Democracy. If you don't mind of course
    cheers

I think the new AC/DC cd is good. Its more like "Thunderstruck" and earlier. Just good old Angus riffs and Johnson vocals. I recommend it.

SXViper, will you be getting Chinese Democracy when it comes out? What's the release date over there? I should imagine you will get it released before us in England.

Release date is Nov. 23rd. Will I be getting it?? I have heard a few songs off from it and so far I am not to impressed by it. I hate to say that ,but I really think the music will suffer without Slash contributing to it. The way I understood how they worked together was that Slash or even Duff would come up with a riff, and then Axl would hear it and then put some lyrics together. From the couple songs that I heard so far it sounds very "industrial", and Axl's voice and the guitars sound so "manipulated". Guess I will hold out hope and wait to hear more songs from the album.

The same "generation gap" that affects movie tastes also affects music tastes, Todd. I'm not denigrating your tastes in music because I'm a firm believer in the philosophy of "different strokes for different folks". It's just that I stopped listening to music after the early Seventies because hard rock and its' offshoots just ain't my thing. I've never even heard of the groups you name.

That's cool, alot of those bands were lost when the grudge rock of the 90's took over. There are very few 80's bands still making it by touring or even making albums, and doing it successfully.

My dad always like listening to music so I was brought up on 50's and 60's rock and country music. And you are right, different strokes for different folks.

By the way, I don't listen to music loud enough to make my ears bleed!!!

While I like and appreciate alot of the artist's from the 50's and 60's, I did grow up in the 70's and 80's, I absolutely loathe most everything from the 70's but the 80's hair metal and rock & roll is what I grew up listening too. That and some country music. So I have to say there are alot of band's that I enjoy listening too but to make me reminsce about the "old days", I pop in some GnR, Whitesnake, Metallica, ect... from the 80's.

SXViper, any news of a new frontman for Velvet Revolver over there in the States.
    Cheers luckynedpepper

No news yet. I have heard that Slash is currently working on a solo project with a bunch of differnt singers so I don't think its a top priority right now. I spend alot of time on this website http://www.sleazeroxx.com/index.html They kind have information for a whole lot of differnt bands. Plus it lets me relive the 80's!!!!

I bought that same version for my dad last year and I made a copy of it. Great CD with classic cowboy songs. Highly recommended.

Velvet Revolver,Glen Campbell,Guns n Roses + Pearl Jam this morning as i'm alone in the house

As much as I liked some of the traditional country artists I have really been listening to hard rock lately. The new Metallica album is quit good, like there stuff in the 80's. Black Stone Cherry is quite good as well. And like luckynedpepper, I love GnR and I think Appetite for Destruction is one of the top 10 albums of all time.

I doubt Axl will ever go to VR. If and I mean a BIG if they were to get back together I am sure they would all unite under the G n R name. It carries way more wieght then VR does.

Yes, they arrested that guy out in California and he should get whatever he has coming to him. There are more arrests coming though because someone from the inside had to of supplied the music to this person. The only other statement that I have abotu this is, can you blame anyone for wanting to hear music from "Chinese Democracy" ? It's been like 10-12 years that Axl has been working it. To me it's pathetic.

And as far as Weiland goes, he is just as goofy and eccentric as Axl was/still is??? He was trying to tick off the rest of the band because he had already decided that he was going back to STP(Stone Temple Pilots) and it would be much easier if he just acted like a jerk, which he did a first class job of. As you can tell I don't think very much of Weiland, I think he is actually worse then Axl and that is saying alot!!

And to get back to the theme of this thread. I have been listening to Dragonforce lately. If you have played Guitar Hero 3 you might have heard the song "Through the Fire and Flames". They have unbelievable guitar work on these albums. Its very fast, kind of a speed metal but there are great melodies in the music, so there is not this screaming/growling that goes with speed metal so many times. Check them out on MySpace or Youtube.

SXViper, great post there, have you heard any Velvet Revolver? Slash,Duff,Matt are in there and i've heard they fired the singer Scott someone.Do you think Axl would join them or has he burnt his bridges with Slash,Duff and Matt?
    cheers luckynedpepper

Oh yeah, I have both Velvet Revolver albums. I liked the 1st one, Contraband more then the second one, Libertad. Yes and Scott Wieland quit or was kicked out, depending on who you believe. He is singing with his original band, Stone temple Pilots again. I never really cared for him anyways and I have to believe that they can find someone better to front the band.

I don't think you will see Axl and the original members get back together as there was alot of stuff going on and I don't think they can forgive each other. Look for a new singer to be announced for VR real soon. As far as I am concerned Slash is a class act and plays a awesome guitar.
