There is that pipe dream(especialy in Canada) that hardened ,habitual criminals can be reformed. The most arrogant and ignorant prime minister we ever had(pierre trudeau) is basicly to blame for the horse crap we have up here now. He gave the incarcerated more rights than the victims.He even gave them the right to vote.No hard labor or work of anykind if they don't want it.Now the gangs control the prisons and there are constant power struggles on the inside. Put these dregs to work for 10-12 hours a day and not laundry or cooking detail either.Take away their gyms full of weights and other equipment,Tv would be a priveledge(didn't rape or knife some one today).Keep these prisoners tired and there won't be alot of time to cause trouble. I also think the victim or the victims family should be the ones that have final say on the punishment. When you break the criminal code and are convicted your rights should be null and void untill you have repayed your debt to society,Whether that is incarceration or execution.We call ourselves a civil society but it seems like our streets and cities are turning back to jungle with tribes of gangs practicing their war skills on neighboring tribes with the innocents, the victims caught in the crossfire...ST...

Criminals are like Real Estate and Lawyers and Judges are the realtors. Evey 7 to 25 years the property usualy comes back on the market. Ready to put money in the pockets of the lawyers and judges.If you hanged these people you would be taking the food out of every criminal lawyer and judges families mouths...And Heavens know we couldn't let that happen...

The Amnesty INT. bugs me too. You see these programs on tv where they interview the lifers or death row crowd and they whine about how their mother didn't love them or their father beat them or some other indescretion to blame for their crimes.(real or just BS). Just once I would like to see one of these guys tell the truth..."I SCREWED UP,NO BODY TO BLAME BUT ME"...NOT VERY DAMN LIKELY...

Let the punishment fit the crime. There is no death penalty in Canada anymore unless you kill a police officer and it is rarely carried out.What gets me is why is a police officer's life more valuable than mine??? I have heard it said that if you are in trouble ie.(rape,murder,burglary,assult,robbery) that when you use 911 or anything else you should say "Officer Down" This will get the response of at least 20 police officers imediately. Anything else and you are on your own...At least until sufficient time has elapsed so the crook can safely get away...
