Slightly since this is not about capital punishment.
Saw on the news last night that the nation's prisons are getting so crowded that many states are thinking about early release for many inmates. I fear this will cause many more problems in our society with these no-good-niks running around loose!
I agree with an earlier mention of these guys having it so good with TV, workout facilities, and libraries (especially LAW) that they go out to purposely do a crime so they can get back in. They can't deal with society outside prison.

I wonder how many of these government types would change their tune if it was a member of their family who was murdered. I think they'd want that perpetrator strung up by the nearest tree with no thought of leniency!

Saddle Tramp - I think the reasoning is that if someone is willing to kill a law enforcement officer, that person would NOT have any deterent in killing a civilian which would make them all that more dangerous!
As for the executions with the needle, these criminals are getting off lightly since the cocktail they receive just puts them asleep. I agree - HANG THE BUMS!
